    Hello, and welcome!

    You might like this thread:

    https://community.myfitnesspal.com/en/discussion/10718336/60-yrs-and-up/

Lots of nice 60+ people there, some of them men, but they're good'uns. ;)

Don't panic if you open that up and see old posts. Like any long-running thread in the MFP Community, the newest posts are at the end, on the high numbered pages. You can jump straight there using the arrows/page numbers near the bottom of the first page.

I'm in that demographic, but more of a Community forum participant and not a great MFP friend on the timeline side of things, realistically. I joined back in 2015 at age 59, lost 50-some pounds (obese to a healthy weight), and have stayed at a healthy weight since, now age 67. That, after about 3 decades previously of being overweight/obese - most of my adult life.

Such a major quality of life improvement, way more so than I would've imagined up front: It's worth the effort. On top of that, it honestly took less effort than the arduous scenario I'd imagined: Win/win!

I'm a believer in minimizing the amount of motivation needed: It's not my long suit. My approach was more about making manageable, tolerable (even enjoyable) changes that gradually took me to a healthy weight, and let me stay there. There's a lot of popular mythology that diet and exercise has to be some miserable forced march, as if being fat were a sin we needed to expiate. IME, that's not true. Finding new, sustainable, enjoyable (or at least tolerable) habits has worked pretty well for me: No misery involved, just some analysis, problem solving, changes in habits.

I crochet a little, but in recent years do more jewelry making and mixed-media visual journaling.

    Wishing you success here!

Thank you,Ann,and Sara Lou(what a sweet name!🌸).I am responding to friend requests…but not sure it is going through.2 people have asked to be friends..but,not sure I am doing it right?Anyway,we will see!
Yes,Ann,Weight/Dieting is portrayed as miserable, and very hard to attain. But,for many,a lifelong fat trap.It almost sounds as if you have incorporated Cognitive Behaviour Therapy into your approach.Though,it may not have been a conscious effort.Course,I’m no therapist, but pretty sure that principal would be part of their writing.I think….🤨
Sara Lou..would love to see your crafting pics. If…there is a way to send pictures?
