I love my home made split pea soup, and assumed it was really healthy, and most likely low in calories. Wow! Was I wrong! How can something that is suppose to be so good for you be 500 calories (cooked) for 1 cup?! I am in shock.....

  • seriously? That is outrageous. I love split pea soup. Well, that one cup could make for a lunch or dinner.

Hmm, I made split pea soup tonight and I calculated it to be around 180 or less per serving. What do you have in yours?

Well, the FITDAY site shows the calories as being 737 for one cup! NOTHING ADDED! And then they say 631. Then there is another site that says 231, but I am pretty sure the back of the bag said 500..... And another site says 231. So, maybe it is 231. All I add to mine is a little bit of cubed ham (maybe a handful or less for a whole bag of split peas) carrots, celery, and onions. I can't remember what the calorie counter said on here... I'm going to check again.

Ok, on here is is 231 for one cup... maybe I was thinking of 2 cups because that is how I bag it. I guess maybe 1 cup just doesn't seem like very much, not very filling. Hmmmm IDK..... sorry about the misinformation...... (But still, you can get a cup of "diet" soup that you don't have to add water to for 60 cal a cup. I guess that is why it shocked me so bad.)
