Bruises?

Hey I have a question. Would love to know your opinions.

I do not really get a balanced diet due to being an on the run college student. I have noticed a lot of small bruises on my legs this last two months. I do not do anything to really injure or bang them. Not sure if its because of my diet. I would like some opinions. Maybe if you had some ideas for solutions?

  • Iron deficiency? Best to go to the doc and have some bloodwork done and see whether you are deficient in any of the vital vitamins.

You might try upping your intake on Vitamin C. That can strengthen your blood vessels and the surrounding tissue. If it persists, you should get some testing done - bruising easily is a symptom of a number of medical issues that have nothing to do with nutrition.

See your dr ASAP. It could be nothing or it could be serious but it's a medical question that needs expert diagnosis.

I used to get that and I was iron deficient, along with calcium, vitamin D, and potassium. I recommend a daily multivitamin with iron and vitamin D. You can't go wrong with that. Most multi vitamins don't have potassium, so you have to take that separately. Example what you've been eating and your nutrients on MFP. Also, circulation via exercise and massage is great for that and lots of things.
  • I bruise ALL THE TIME. It is because I have chronic pernious anemeia so you should get it shecked out as it can be dangerous.
I now have iron supplements and B12 injections every 12 weeks. I can tell when an injection is due as the bruises start so it is worth checking it our just incase! I thought I was just clumsy :)

Are you on any medication? When I was on antidepressants I'd bruise from the tiniest knock.

I really appreciate the advice everyone. I am not on any kind of medication and I actually in all honesty do not take vitamins. I think I will take some of the vitamins you all suggested and see if that gets me somewhere. If not i will got say hi to my doctor.
