What do you think of my tattoo?

  • Ever go to a wedding with tattooed bridesmaids? Tattoos don't go with evening dresses and formal wedding attire. Get one done out of henna. They are beautiful, and unless you have an allergy, you can still show off your great skin in a shoulderless gown.

i've had a full sleeve in every wedding i've been a bridesmaid in, and the brides have chosen strapless dresses for me, for the PURPOSE of showing off my tattoos! my own wedding dress showed all my ink. i had no regrets, and experienced nothing but positivity toward my art at any of these events.

My husband is a tattoo artist so i'm always helping him with pieces! I love this...on your thigh would be so cool! i would add some shading to the letters make them really stand out...black wings with white and bright purple accents would be soooo pretty! And the whole bridesmaids thing... usually at a formal wedding you wear a long dress anyway...so unless you are planning on showing off more than your tattoo... i think it will be just fine! :) please post a pic when or if you get it done...well unless it's way up there! lol

Thanks! I have read a few places that wings symbolize speed as well :] Outer thigh and I want black/purple!

Like the wings. Like how the words are written. Not a fan of the phrase "Mental Escape"

    I think writing "Free"

    or "Breathe"

    or "Strength"

etc. would sound much more positive.

I like the way glitterpiss moved the words. I think it's a cool design and if you're sure you want it, then go for it.

Its just a rough sketch done by me!! SO no judgements xD If i took it took it to an artist it would be MUCH better xD haha

    FxCam_1317082043225.jpg

Its says "Mental Escape" Which to me is how I describe my running. I run to be free, I feel at peace. It is the time I feel at complete control of my body and calm. Running is everything to me and has been for a long time.

Opinions? Just kinda came up with this randomly tonight xD

Holy Pixies Piss Sunshine! Your drawing has an uncanny resemblance to the wings on my back! (Look at my pic in my profile) How awesome is that.....Love it♥

I am getting a full back tattoo next month. If you go to my profile pics you can see the 4 elements. I am also going to get a half sleeve after that to commemerate my father.

I like it...but you are pertty tiny...if you put it on your thigh I would shorten the phrase so the letters can be bigger and more legible...what about just "escape"?

You say this like it is fact and not your own opinion. I wore an off the shoulder dress for my wedding and have my back tattooed. I personally think it looked great! I don't see a reason why they don't "go together". I'm not sure, in a way, why you replied as the OP has already stated they are pretty sure they're getting this and if it's something they want who are you to try to talk them out of it because you don't like them?

    Very creative.

I like the words..the fact that its not just a generic term you see everywhere, and it actually means something to you.

    Do it up!

Could those wings be confused for spider veins later in life?

I love thigh tattoos, but I was almost upset when the tattooist suggested my thigh as a spot, but now I love it. I do like yours quite a bit, and have a back piece in the works. It was not nearly as painful as I thought it would be; I have one about the size of a business card on my neck, and that one hurt way worse. If you love it, do it. If someone doesn't like it, they don't have to look it, or have it on their body each and everyday. -soft smile with hugs-

It depends on the kind of tattoo, I think. I've seen some very elegant looking tattoos look beautiful with shoulderless gowns.

I think that maybe just the word "escape" would be beautiful, and would still hold the same meaning (with the wings of course)

it's very elegant and breath taking though :)

I just got a tattoo last month. I'm a professional in an office with coworkers who tend toward the business formal side (suits every day - skirts with jackets etc) Mine is small and on the inside of my wrist. I'll wear a watch over it for formal occasions and probably for every day at work but right now I love seeing it!

Shocking I'm sure - but it's a glass of red wine set inside a triangle so it slightly resembles the "deathly hallows" symbol in Harry Potter.

I got the one on my thigh just under a month ago, and the one on my neck, which my hair normally covers, in April, I think.

That looks great! How bad did it hurt on your thigh then? I thought it wouldnt be too bad since its not close to a bone xD

Thank you very much! It barely hurt at all; I mainly just played on my phone the whole time. It isn't! Like I said, the little tiny one on my leg hurt way worse. However, neither hurt nearly as bad as getting my septum pierced. The thigh was not a problem spot, and I was expecting pain, but it was low.

This is great news for me then! For my first one I didnt want to pick a really painful spot since I dont really know my tolerance lvl yet xD

I need to find more example pics of thigh tattoos to show my boyfriend, he hasnt seen any so he says it will look weird *sigh* men! haha xD

  • Would really love to see them! Thanks so much btw :]

    Love it!

I didn't read all of the posts, so I apologize if someone already mentioned this or if you already know it..... Take the outline of your drawing to the tattoo artist. If you want to have an example of the colors or shading, then make a copy of the original and do the work on that. Otherwise, some places can't use your work.

I found out the hard way. I did my first tat at the end of Aug. I drew it myself and shaded it. Then the tattoo artist said they needed it outlined only. Wish they would've said that the week before. Anyway, mine didn't turn out exactly like my drawing because of the last minute rush to make it an outline. Unfortunately, the main reason for my tat.... the name in the key.... was almost forgotten. I had to remind her just before she let me out of the chair. So the name barely shows up at all.

Also, if you haven't already, investigate the place first. I should have made sure I didn't just go by what my aunt and her friends said. I didn't even like their tats, but they were the only people I knew that had any.

I hope you go for it and that you post pics afterward! Woohoo!!!!!

If you want pics of thigh pieces, mine are here; http://www.facebook.com/media/set/?set=a.218083252463.175487.584697463&l=8ea96ebefb&type=1

Please note that I am NOT the redhead; that's an image I found to illustrate how that kind of picture would look on skin.

Mine hurt quite a bit, but I have a low pain tolerance, and mine was on the inner thigh.

You can also see thigh pieces on this LJ-Comm [ http://ihearttattoos.livejournal.com/tag/location: thigh ], but you may need to be a member. I'm not sure how many posts are locked over there.

There's also Girls With Ink [ http://girls-with-ink.livejournal.com/ ], but they don't seem to have useful tags to hunt for specific locations.
