Please lie to me?

I started MFP last January. I lost a max of 26 pounds. I've been holding steady at 211 pounds for weeks now. I'm happy that I've lost what I've lost but my goal is to get to 140.

Please tell me that I won't weigh 211 pounds forever as long as I keep working on eating healthy and exercising more.
Please tell me that I won't wear 1x shirts forever.
Please tell me that I won't wear size 22 pants forever.

Please tell me that it can be done. Please tell me that not only it is possible but it is also plausibe. Please tell me that it can be done - by me. Tell me I'm not the only one.

Because right now I am so close to just giving up. (Except that MFP is so darned addictive!)

We don't have to lie to you, those are truths. If you keep at it and try different ways, you will complete all of those goals. No doubt about it. Maybe have someone look over what you are doing just to make sure everything is correct, or if it's a plateau research how to get yourself moving again. I am around 145lbs down from 200lb and let me tell you it was worth every last drop of sweat. Good Luck

I know it's hard but it is all up to you in the end. Slow and steady is best in the long run.

Those are all truths. Try adjusting things to see what works best for your body. Low carb, high protein, upping calories, adding more veggies, higher carb, all things that work for different people. One thing that really works for everyone though is to limit the amount of processed foods. Instead of a rice mix, make your own, make your own cereal bars with fresh, wholesome ingredients, make your own frozen lunches for work without all of the preservatives. You can do this!

I see you have 2 young kids - I do the wii fit workouts and other wii exercise games and they join me. It becomes a family event where the kids get more activity too. It is great for the nights you can't get out to the gym.

Please don't give up. You have come so far....and you can do this. You can achieve all those goals you have set for yourself. I never thought I would lose as much as I have right now and be in the size that I am....and I am continuing onward. Find a new exercise to get involved with maybe that will help jump start you again!!!

Good luck!!! and please don't give up.....

Try switching things up a little bit. Add a little less carbs, a little more protien. Change up your exercise routine. Go out for coffee with the girls and take a night off. Sometimes, it's the little things that make a huge difference.

BTW, 26 lbs is AWESOME!!! You're doing great.

I had a 3 month plateau and felt frustrated also, but chose not to give up. I've since changed my excersice routine, I do shorter workouts more days (30DS currently.) In the last 2.5 weeks the pounds have been coming off again and I can tell my body is toning up quite a bit. Don't give up

i hear ya..im right there with you..i know it id frustrating, and i want to give up too, but i keep reminding myself if i give up now, all those pounds will come back, and i will have completely wasted 8 months of my life..i know it will eventually get better, but even if it doesn't remember you did lose X amount of weight, and for that, you should be proud of yourself..hang in there, im hoping october will be more productive..it's gotta get better from here
  • You can do this!!! I would never lie to you! : )

The fact that you just posted this means you are not ready to give up. Drink water. Eat fresh fruits and vegetables! Drink water. Add good protein from eggs, chicken, nuts, turkey. Drink water.

Play with your kids....I don't know their ages but they are always full of energy. Play tag, hop scotch, jump rope, kick ball, soccer.... all the things that make you move. It also wears them out so they go to bed earlier and you have time at night for yourself or you and your hubby.

    You will succeed!!! : )

Slow and steady...and don't beat yourself up too much. You're a mom, you're homeschooling, you've got a spouse with health issues -- you've got a lot, and you're STILL doing this for you. Keep going. You're worth it.

You can and you will do this. I so wish I was at 26 lbs lost right now, what you've accomplished is amazing. You are so close to 'onederland' and it is such an amazing feeling when you achieve that. Get some new goals and workout routines and just keep going.

Oh no, please don't give up!!! You're in a plateau at the moment and that's completely normal!! Stay the course! Drink your water, change your exercise and/or food (as your body does get used to your routine). Sometimes your body needs a bit of a shock to kick it into gear again. If your scale isn't budging, then put it away for a while and concentrate on how differently your clothes are fitting...use that as your gage. You can do this!! You know you can! Last December I was at 211 (joined MFP in February) and I've lost 40 since December. I've had a lot of plateaus through out the year and was frustrated just like you feel now. If I can do this, then you can too. Feel free to friend me and we'll do this together!

One moment at a time! You got this!!

    Those are all truths.

You can do it. I have been at the same weight all summer. I was so discouraged, but I did drop 2 sizes and I think the plateau is finally over. I hope my scale stays this way or drops more on weigh in day.

Keep up the good work. and Take measurements. I wish I did.

Believe me, Sweetie, you are definitely NOT the only one. Changing years and years of bad habits or body chemistry or whatever it is that put us here is very hard work. I think the hardest part is having faith that it will eventually work - maybe just not as quickly as we'd like. I struggled with bulimia for almost a decade, and I got down to about 160 in my late teens and very early twenties. I also got grayish skin, scar tissue on my esophagus, brittle hair and nails, and chronic acid reflux disease for my trouble(Incidently, some of that stuff didn't go away!)!

Don't focus so much on the number on the scale as the fact that other things are changing. Didn't you recently post that you could get into your husband's jeans? Girl, that's a huge NSV! It's taken me years to make peace with the fact that I don't care so much about what that final number on the scale says when I'm done with this so much as how fit I look and feel. Start taking your measurements and keep track of them. That will help tremendously!

And more importantly, it has absolutely NOTHING to do with the amazing person you are! I am constantly awed and inspired with what you handle each and every day. Honest to goodness, there are days when I feel like I can't take one more thing thrown in my path, and then I remind myself of all you do as a wife, mother, employee and caregiver, and I tell myself to suck it up and keep going!

    You're in my prayers!

You're close to giving up on what? Yourself? Being healthy? Being thin? I don't understand. Why would you give up on those things? Just to eat a cookie or some other junk food???

If you exercise and eat right you WILL NOT weigh 211 forever. You WILL get to a healthy weight (whether that is 140 or not could depend on a lot of things).

Maybe eating more would speed things up, maybe eating less would, maybe more cardio will, or more strength. But without any changes, if you are really eating a healthy deficit of calories your body WILL let go of the weight eventually. It will have to.
