Intermittent Fasting

Has anyone seen results from intermittent fasting 3-5 days a week? Will it still have an effect? Thank you.

What kind of effect are you expecting from intermittent fasting relative to eating throughout the day?

IF doesn't have some kind of magical effect on losing weight. It can help some people maintain a consistent calorie deficit...it's the calorie deficit that affects weight loss.
  • Hi Jocelyn!

It's best to think of intermittent fasting as a tool! The only way to truly lose body fat is to be in a caloric deficit. To achieve this, you should be burning more calories than you consume. Intermittent fasting can potentially help you achieve this deficit because you have a limited time frame. I know many people who have seen success with this method. For me personally, I just enjoy foods flexibly and just stay within 10% of my calorie goal!

Your results will be a product of your overall weekly calorie consumption not meal timing.

I do mwf 22 hours and it really helps on my off days I usually fast 16 hours. I’ve lost 38 pounds in 5 months but i also eliminated sugar and limited my carbs and always stay in a deficit. I like IF because it keeps me on track if I start eating in the morning then I figure what the hell and eat too much. It’s a head game!

Like other ways of eating, IF can help people create a calorie deficit.
