Though I have only been using MFP for a couple of weeks now, I have gone from 297lbs to 267lbs since I began my weight loss journey at the end of May. I posted a before and after on my profile, but I can't post the pics from my work computer. Will try to get them posted here when I get home this evening.

Congrats on the loss! With posting pictures, it has to be through photobucket and the IMG codes in the link need to be lowercase (img)

Thanks. Yeah, I figured that out after I posted the comment. I'm on my computer at work right now, so I can't do all that from here. Will have to wait until I get home later this evening.
  • Good Luck on your journey. What are your doing? Please let me know. I need help!
  • Awesome job! Keep up the good work.

@ jaysirmar: The first 20lbs or so came off pretty quickly and easily since about half of that was excess fluids. Beyond that, I've been educating myself online about proper nutrition, I ALWAYS read the label on any pre-prepped food items (though I try to stay as far away from processed stuff as possible), I get plenty of exercise, I drink LOTS of water (usually at least 12 8oz glasses instead of the recommended 8 glasses), and I try to get AT LEAST 7 hrs of sleep per night (8 or 9 hrs if I've pushed harder than usual in my workout that day). Also, I don't just monitor my fat and calorie intake. I'm also looking at protein, sodium, fiber, and carbs. What's really helped me stay motivated in my workouts is the staff at my gym. They've been FANTASTIC! I've never felt so good about going to the gym and working out. If you can afford it and you haven't already done so, I highly recommend getting a membership at a good gym. Try to find one that's within a mile or two of where you live or work so that you are not as tempted to skip it because it's out of your way to go there. Another option is, be a leader in your church or neighborhood. Talk to friends and neighbors about starting a neighborhood walk/jog/run group. There are a myriad of other things that have helped me along the way. I'm not sure exactly what aspect you're struggling with (i.e. motivation, knowledge about nutrition/fitness, accountability, etc...), so I'm not exactly sure how to advise you. Hope some of this helps. I've been struggling with the scales since I was a teenager (about twenty years now), so I've got alot of knowledge about WHAT to do. However, I still have diffiulty with being consistent enough to keep the momentum going. I'm hoping I can do better this time around.

P.S. Remember, the scales can be your worst enemy psychologically. I would recommend not weighing in more than once/wk, take measurements, and monitor your clothing size. Don't focus on just what the scale says. Remember that this is not just about a number on the scale, it's about your HEALTH and your quality of life. I'm getting ready to post some before and afters on my original comment for this thread. In those pics, I look like I've lost alot more than thirty pounds because my BMI has changed so dramatically. Seeing the comparison really put into perspective for me how much my body has changed even though I've "only" lost 30lbs.

    Have a great day! :flowerforyou:

Okay. I'm having issues here. I figured out how to post my pics using Photo Bucket, but they are HUGE when I post them here. I've tried resizing the pics in Photo Bucket and on the editing program on my computer. Nothing's working. Any ideas as to how I can reduce the size of the photos?

Somebody just gave me a new tip about posting via Photo Bucket so I'm gonna give this one more shot and see what happens.

Finally, they look the way they should! It's about time! Well, that's all for tonight. I'm going to bed.
