Why would my carb goal be 50% that seems high to be low carb program.

    50% as stated, is the default. It is not low carb in any way. You will need to customize to percentages to give the carb amount you want.

    50% carbs is the standard percentage for MFP. I don't know whether you can chose from standard low carb programs, but you can chose percentages to your liking yourself.

    MFP is not inherently a low carb program. It defaults to mainstream recommendations for balanced macros, but lets you reset if your preferences are different.

    I lost nearly a third of my body weight (and found improved health) eating right around 50% carbs, but if you prefer to eat lower carb that's fine, too. Just set your carb percentage where you want it, distribute the extra percentage points between protein and fats.

    It's more common for low carb macro mixes to be high fat, moderate protein, but other things can work. We need a certain minimum of protein and fats; otherwise the percentages can vary to individual tastes and needs.
