Hoping you can advise how we can best support each other. I’m older but act young so hope that’s ok. I’ve realised my extra little ‘this won’t hurt’ snacks are my downfall.
First suggestion is.: Don’t blame your trainer in one breath and then admit you know what’s wrong in the next.
Saying this with love, not snarkily. I am the Queen of Been There Done That.
Take some responsibility, and use the app to weigh and log and set limits for yourself.
And if the PT is not a good fit for you, don’t give up. My first two were at Workout Anytime and LA Fitness. Neither was invested in me- very likely because I wasn’t invested in myself at the time.
Once I got on MFP and did begin paying attention, I lucked into an experienced and knowledgeable trainer who absolutely rocked my world. She was 72, tough as nails and took no excuses. After she retired, I didn’t have one for months - except a one time attempt with some guy who wanted to treat me like an old fragile woman- til an instructor at my new gym actually asked if she could train me as her first client. Total different training style but we gelled so well that she now has a waiting list because others have seen the results she got for me- but, again, because I was invested in the process. Win/Win for both of us.
Trainers are a dime a dozen. Quality trainers are rare as hen’s teeth.
Drop the blame, take control of your life, and if you’re not happy with a trainer……next!!!6 -
Hi all! Is anyone on here still looking for an accountability buddy?
I'm turning 44 in February and my goal is to lose about 30 lbs. I've had success in the past but I've gained it back over the last 4 years.
I know a ton about nutrition/fitness but I fall short when it comes to consistency so I'm hoping a buddy will help me with that and also connect me to someone who is ready to be equally excited about this journey!5 -
Please feel free to friend request me! I was diagnosed with colorectal cancer in 2019. I was 39 at the time and 275 pounds. I got down to 192 pounds. I've been in remission since January of 2021, and unfortunately, I've gained back almost all of the weight. I'm currently 45 years old. My doctors are very concerned about my health and I could really use some accountability.5

Hey
I’m 42 will be 43 16 Jan. I would like to lose 10 pounds. I’m a short gal 5 foot so the weight shows a bit. I’m eating about 1,300 cals a day but I think lack of sleep is also my issue.
My weight has fluctuated a lot. In 2020 my mother died and I stopped eating. So I naturally lost a lot of weight. But was not healthy. I then gained it all back a year later and more. So yeah I need any tips that you can give ha ha1 -
47 here and going through perimenopause. It makes it impossible to lose weight. 😭3

Definitely interested. Turned 40 last year. Have about 20kg to lose. Been diagnosed with high blood pressure and high cholesterol. Definitely need to make some changes.2

I'm 41, have lost 150lb but have struggled up and down the same 20lb for last few years instead of getting permanently rid of 50-80 more pounds.
I've already lost my mum. She had strokes in her late 30's that were untreated as docs told her it's just a headache (and ignored other stroke symptoms) and to go lay down. She developed vascular Alzheimer's and epilepsy
I have high cholesterol that they think is an inherited type but it's 0.5 below the cut off for specialist and high blood pressure that they are ignoring 🤷🏻♀️
I don't want to end up like my mum so trying to clean up my act again since I already have several autoimmune conditions along with two special needs kids3 -
Anyone want to be friends? I'm 46 and been battling this weight for years. I need to get solid on this.2

Greetings, I'm 48 and need to lose 45lbs. I am a thyroid cancer survivor and it's really hard to get this weight off! My body has been wanting real foods for awhile. I've just started to listen to it. Recently, my cholesterol has been up and even my blood pressure. These are issues, I tend not to have.
I have been working out for awhile, but still no weight loss!
I go to the Y, lift weights, stretch, yoga, and started jogging slightly. More or less, healthy choices and lifestyle changes are key!
I'm here for new friends and a support system.2 -
I’m 45 I would love to start by loosing 20 pounds. Once I do that I wan to see how I look feel to get back in the 160’s then I will see if I want to loose another 20-30 to get down to 130. My mom’s health is getting worse and I just don’t want to go down the same path.0

I'm turning 40 this year and gained a bunch of weight over some stressful years. Hoping to lose 28-35lbs. Please send a friend request. I've found supportive friends on here motivating, and hopefully I do the same! My plan is an average of 1500 calories a day, 90g protein, 20g fibre, 10000 steps and working out on weekdays doing pilates, yoga, kettle bells and kickboxing.1

Hello everyone my name is Cindy and I recently let myself gain 30 lbs. but than I lost 10 lbs. and I have 20 to go to get to my pre middle aged I have given up weight, but I figure why stop there! I enjoy food, as a matter of fact there isn’t a food I’ve found that I haven’t enjoyed, although like most people I have my favorites. So I figure if I have to learn to discipline myself for achieving a goal I badly want I might as well go balls to the wall and try to achieve the body of my 20’s instead of my 30’s. I figure I may as well go hard or go home, so I’m actually shooting for about 106 lbs. I’m 5’1’’ or 61 cm. For reference, and I have always had a muscular but hourglass shape, I have a lot of strengths for my size and stature and gaining muscle is the easier part of my healthy lifestyle, staying away from sugar is the downfall. I grew up from birth to age 13 very restrictive household due to my mothers beliefs about children with severe ADHD and eating sugar, so I always planned to eat what ever I wanted when I grew up, and that’s precisely what I’ve done. (Not the growing up part the gorging on sugar, and doing whatever I got comfort from! Unfortunately, I learned the hard way, that although gelato is Deeeeeelucoius it doesn’t make me like being naked, and personally I like feeling comfortable naked. I can see now that what I put in is what I get out. And my body has served me well in my life so I don’t want to mistreat it. It’s not always beautiful but it’s sturdy and quite healthy despite all the things I’ve put it through. So I’m happy to find this group! Personally it’s always been hard for me to make friends. I’ve had the same little group of friends for my entire life almost and it’s hard for me to want to try to make more when it’s just not my comfort zone, but I have also learned in life that usually the things that are worth something ain’t comfortable. I also learned how boring comfortable is at times and why it’s better to have some balls and self discipline than comfort. It’s very sneaky and overrated that damn comfort! So hello there everyone, I’m sorry I think i already started to rattle on, and on and on. I apologize, I can be very verbal at times so please excuse my awkwardness. I wish everyone the best of self discipline since I don’t believe in luck! I think that we can do anything as long as we know what to do and are CONSISTENT no matter what! Nice to meet all of you! [6
