I walk on the treadmill and hold on to the handrails for support. By doing that my Apple Watch doesn’t track my steps. I use my phone to watch videos during my routine also. Is there a way to add steps manually?

Do you have a balance issue that requires you to hold the rails? If not, better form on the machine would be not holding the handles.

Agree. Also, holding onto handrails reduces the calories burned because you use less muscles for the movement.1

Is it possible to fix the watch to you ankle? I do this with Fitbit when I don't have time/want to bother adding the specific exercise. It's not precise as at the wrist, but at least a part of steps are recorded.0

You can simply manually add the distance in as a walk, i.e. walk 20 minutes at 3 mph if you walk 1 mile. However, as stated above, if you hold on, you burn about half the calories, so be cautious about eating them back.0
