    Isn't it simply that I have one of those all the time and the other only occasionally?

    Didn't I often enjoy butter-soaked powdered sugar on my French toast as a child?
    Wasn't I less enthused with maple syrup until I had 100% pure maple syrup instead of the maple flavored corn syrup I had as a child?
