I've been doing zumba for a few months. I tried using my Brooks Ghost running shoes, but they didn't feel good. I am currently using Puma Faas 500's but still feel I could have more support. What do you wear? Suggestions??

Dancing shoes, wish I knew what some actual names in brands were. But running shoes are no good, make sure they're designed for dancing- it'll give you the best support!

My best friend is a zumba instructor and I think she said something about.. running shoes are made to go forward (makes sense) which makes them no good for zumba! i'm not sure exactly what sort of shoes WOULD be correct but maybe shoes made for a sport where this is more side to side action like tennis or badminton, or maybe just getting some shoes made for dance. good luck!

I bought these shoes for Zumba and I love them. You do need to order a size bigger than you actually wear.

Ryka makes a shoe called synergy, the ryka studio shoe would also work well. You can order them online. Running shoes are miserable for any movement other than moving forward.

Hi There - I'm a Zumba instructor and have a couple of different kinds I like. I'm sure you know from doing it for a while that one of the most important things is that you have very little tread so that you can slide and turn without messing up your knees and ankles. I have used Capezio Rockit Dance sneakers which are GREAT for sliding and turning and have a lot of cushion. They don't have a lot of "support" though. If you're looking for something with my support I really love my Ryka Transitions. They have only a small amount of tread and have a great pivot point. I will say that they are designed to be wide through the ball of your foot, so if you happen to have very narrow feet then they wouldn't be the best and they do not have as much cushioning as the Capezio's. Lastly, I know a lot of instructors swear by Reebok Zigs, but I have not tried them myself.

    Hope that helps!!
  • Hi Mariposa
I have two pairs of Ryka Transition shoes ,I have found that these work great for Zumba I liked them so much that I bought a second pair..They are very light and very comfortable.I bought them at Zappos.com $ 70.00 worth every dime.they come in two colors.Zappos .com has excellent customer service and free shipping both ways you can try them at the gym so they do not get dirty if they don't work out they will take them back. Hope this help's.I know I had a real hard time finding shoes for Zumba until I found these.Returned five pairs of shoes before these.

You might want to try something like this... http://www.vibramfivefingers.com/products/Five-Fingers-Classic-Womens.htm

I've never done zumba, but I know a couple people who have and loved using their VFFs for it.
