How often do you weigh?

I read somewhere that you should only weigh once a week so that you see actual difference and not just daily fluctuations, but I was reading today that people who weigh themselves daily tend to lose twice as much as people who weigh themselves less frequently. http://eatthis.menshealth.com/slide/18-not-using-scale?slideshow=186453#sharetagsfocus

I weigh myself every morning when I wake up. Just so I can see how my weight fluctuates as each day passes throughout the week.0
-
I weigh every day because I can't help it0
-
Whenever I feel like it! :bigsmile:0
-
i weigh myself everyday, except for the weeks of pms, because i know that will just depress me.0
-
Every time I walk past the scales :lol
I don't mind the fluctuations, they don't get be down0 -
My doctor told me to weigh once a week, so thats what I do. Her reasoning behind it though was so I wouldn't get obsessed with weighing myself and start stressing over a number.0

Me too0 -
I weigh every morning. I don’t obsess with it, I just like to understand the daily fluctuations, and I’m trying to make sure, as I increase my calories, that I’m not gaining weight.0

I weigh myself a few times a week, My weekly recorded weigh in on Wednesdays, So I weigh myself every day with sunday being the last day, then I don't weigh myself again until Wednesday. (so no weigh in monday, or tuesday) So when I enter my weekly it can be a surprise!0

My offical weigh in is always on Saturday mornings before breakfast. I also weight in 2 or 3 times a week just to keep in check. I do not weigh in during the week before and the week of my period, but only because I ALWAYS gain about 9 lbs. during that time and then drop it right after plus some. It is too frustrating to weigh then...0

I think the most common answer will be along the lines of "Once a day, but only log it once a week".
I'm one of them0 -
I weigh everyday. I don't obsess over it but I like to stay in check. Everyone is different.0

in a previous attempt at losing weight i aimed to weigh myself every week but would cheat and weigh myself during the week - would then find i hadnt lost anything or had even gained, would get down-hearted and pig-out. Now i am being strict and only doing it every week and i feel so much better. I feel much more in control of the process0

That is so good to hear.. I am on the week before my time of the month right now and I gained 4 pounds and was getting anxiety that I was losing progress.. Glad someone can relate!!0

I weigh myself once a week but would rather weigh in more often.

I weigh every Saturday once a week. Welcome To MFP!! Congratulations On A Healthy Journey!!0

My official logged weigh-in is on Thursdays, but I take a peek every day when I wake up to see my fluctuations.0

I weigh every morning. But, I only log my low weights LOL. Another words I may fluctuate up and down are stay the same but as soon as I see a new low weight I log it. When I went and looked at the reports option where it lets you look at your weight change I I see a gradual loss. I also can go look at my previous entries and I see that I lose about 0.6 to 0.8 lb a week or 1 lb every 10 days.
But either way yea I have to weigh everyday!0 -
once a week (same time for comparability), unless I am doing some sort of dietary experimenting.
And on this topic

I use to weigh every week but now I weigh myself everyday... when I am home that is. I find it keeps me honest and doing it helps me get to know my body, how it reacts to certain things, but most of all, to stay on top of things.0

weigh in every morning Same time... i dont stress over the small ups and downs but if i get the same reading 3 days in a row i log it. And then i dont allow myself to go 0.2kg over it again... except during the week of my period then i count nothing and i dont weigh in at all... that week is just not worth the hormonal drama of any gain
i find daily stops me from eating badly i see every up and down daily and it pushes me at the gym0 -
I weigh every day, multiple times a day. I don't obsess about the number. It's fascinating to see the fluctuations throughout the day and across the month. If I'm doing better than usual at that time of day cool. If not, hmm. No changes really just wondering. I log my morning weights unless I forgot to weigh nekkid. That way the graph shows the fluctuations and I can see the pattern very clearly. I have "official " weigh ins twice a week.
It just works better than once a week for me.0 -
I used to weigh one or more times a day and became a wee bit obsessed with it.
My doctor told me off and told me to get rid of my scales because I shouldn't ever weigh myself. I totally disagree with that, but found weighing once a week was much better for me.
Now I've moved onto maintenance I weigh on Thursdays and Mondays, but Mondays is my "official" day.0 -
When i'm my goal weight-once a week to make sure I havent gained any weight...but i'm pretty slim so notice an extra 2kg VERY easily (1kg i don't notice)
When I'm trying to lose weight-2-3 times a week. I read the same study a few years ago.0 -

Intersted to hear what sort of fluctuations you get over a day?0 -
I weigh whenever I feel lighter. LOL0
-
So do I! Haha0

I weigh myself once a day first thing in the morning but only record once a week, same day each week. Works for me. The only time I get frustrated is when I am pms'ing because I retain water during this time and it shows on the scale.0

I weigh myself everyday and take off all my clothes and make sure I pee before! I used to weigh once a week a few months back and then I had a couple of surprises where I gained weight. I feel like weighing everyday (even though it fluctuates) helps to keep me in check!0

I'm always at least 2 pounds heavier at night before I go to bed. (in the bathroom to brush teeth and take care of any last bit of business). I sometimes come in from a run, weigh myself and might be up a little or down a little. It has happened that I'll weigh myself after a bath, sometimes having washed my long hair, and I will weigh less after the bath than I did right before. Sometimes as much as a pound! It is truly stunning. I weigh myself when I first wake up on one of the official weigh in days for my challenge. I've weighed X at 4:30 (just woke up and had to pee) and then gone back to bed and done nothing else and weighed X+1 pounds at 5:30.
If I weigh what I weighed this morning any time after noon, then I'm gonna have a loss tomorrow unless I eat a bunch of salt.
I always have precipitous weight loss, gain back a bit and then maintain or slowly lose. the maintain period is my period. I also notice that my stomach seems more jiggly, and then I have a big drop.
Its all bizarre and truly fascinating.0
