Adding Notes to a Recipe

It seems bizarre to me that MFP doesn't allow us to add notes to a recipe (if they do, I don't know how to do it), so I'm wondering what other users do as a workaround. Right now, I just keep them in separate files, but that adds another layer to the process.

    Use the “meals” function instead.

Yeah, you can’t import recipes, but I’ve found that to be a mess anyways.

Meals is much more versatile than recipes. You have the option to add notes, copy the recipe to tinker with (without wrecking the original) plus when you add a “meal” to your diary, it applies the correct proportion of each individual ingredient.

Seeing individual ingredients is useful for me because I can see which ingredient is adding which macro, and since my husband is on MFP, too, it’s flexible enough he can do things like remove the chicken sausage from tomato soup, or change his portion of meat to be smaller than mine, since I get more calories than him.

But being able to copy and work on a recipe is far and away the most co no eminent thing about it.

I name my foods something like "cloud bread, beat egg whites &cream of tartar, beat yolks w/cheese. 350 30 minutes."

I knew I'd seen someplace for notes before, and it was driving me nuts because I couldn't find it. It's in Meals. I'll give that a try, because I, too, like to see the micros.

    Thank you!
