Sensible ice coffee
Sometimes I just want to drink a refreshing cafe style ice coffee, cream and ice cream and all. So, rather than buying something giant from the cafe, I've started trying to make them at home, but more low cal.
This is where I'm at so far
100m skim milk or same amount of calories other kinds of milk with water added to make up the difference
single serve of icecream (47g)
no cream at the moment but when I have some, just a dash of that.
plunger coffee to taste
It tastes ok, sometimes a bit watery, always leaves me feeling like I've had too much milk even the though the milk quantity is dramatically less than a store bought one would be.
Has anyone else had a crack at this, know/share their sensible icecoffee recipes?
Only limitation, no artificial sweetener, don't trust that stuff.

if you have a blender, try slim milk and ice, add your coffee and blend. Then add your ice cream to thinken it up.
Soy milk and Soy Ice cream is good. you could have a mocha with chocolate soy ice cream. That would definately add a bit more flavour.0 -
I just make Turkish on the stove. 1 tsp. of Turkish-ground coffee per 3 oz. demitasse cup. 3/4 tsp. stevia. Dash cardamom.
Delicious and only about 5 calories.
Method: I put everything in the cezve (or small pot) with 3 oz. H2O. Cook on medium heat til it just boils and starts to foam. Remove from heat for 30 seconds. Return to heat til foaming, remove from heat. Pour. Enjoy!
EDIT: NEVERMIND. I'm a idiot. You said iced.
Stronger coffee and less milk is all I can think of. Sugar-free syrups are nice, too, for flavor.0 -
Are you trying to make iced coffee or a coffee flavored milkshake?
In the US, iced coffee is just brewed coffee, ice, cream/milk and sugar.. no ice cream or anything like that. Sometimes we'll add syrup(like chocolate syrup or carmel, but thats about it).0 -
I'm half Cypriot, so my favourite iced coffee variant is a Frappe (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Frappé_coffee), black, with half a teaspoon of brown sugar or unsweetened but with skimmed milk.0
