Hi! My name is Teresa and I am a 42 year old mom to 3, wife and accounting controller. I am committing to the next 10 days because I can! No little lies to myself anymore! I have been on this journey for almost a year and have lost 40 pounds and so many inches. I'm proud of where I came from but I know I can break through this plateau and reach goals!

It is beautiful out today so I will be going for a nice walk with my dog and some friends after work. We just got done with basketball season and waiting for track to start so I am going to take advantage of slower evenings! I also need to get my butt up tomorrow morning because I miss my 5 AM group at the gym like crazy! Here's to a great week!!

Random stuff about me:I am 59 years old this month (ouch). I currently live in Texas with my hubby and crew of kitty babies. I am a neonatal nurse practitioner and work 24hour shifts in a busy NICU. If it looks like I disappear on random days…that’s why! About 10 years ago I lost 135 pounds. Never made it to goal but just sort of leveled off at ~200 pounds. Over time I gained back nearly 50. Working on getting back at least to my low weight of 200. I would like to eventually make it to 150 where I think I would be comfortable.Previous rounds:SW RND 250: 244.5

your post really caught my eye. Mostly because the words “I need to” are very triggering for me.
I read in a book somewhere to change your words you can change your mindset. Instead of “I have to” say “I want to” or instead of “I need to” say “I get to” or another suggestion is “I’m the type of person that does this” (ie. step-climbs for 22 minutes)
I think it was a book called “4-Day Win” She suggests creating good habits by doing something for 4 days in a row. You change from someone who tried running once or twice, to a person who would be observed as “oh that’s Krystal. She’s a runner!”
Now that I think back, that book gave me a lot of tools to get myself to start walking when I was 200+ plus pounds. I may have to blow the dust off and give it another read.
@Krysless2 I am sorry my words triggered you. I know the words I use set the tone for my inner monologue but I didn't think it would trigger someone else. I still don't have a problem with using the word need though - it just expresses that I know something will follow for me if I do something specific. Saying that my words triggered you is a very strong statement so perhaps I shouldn't post here if simple words trigger others.0 -
Hello again, everyone! Ready for my second round

Hey Donna ~ {{{{{sending hugs girl}}}}} I had a few rounds with my emotions last week too. So many of us are fighting that battle - it's hard, I know. But I have a new awareness I'd like to share with you and the fitfam ~ sugar crack releases opioids and dopamine into the system. That's the link between sugar and addictive behavior. Anything can be a trigger.
Last week I was appalled at how much I was CRAVING carb comfort 🤪 + my continued struggle with self-control!! No matter how disgusted I might have been that I didn't say NO! ~ I gave myself permission to have "just a little bit" ~ and was sooo proud I didn't go full-tilt off the rails with it. (Y'all know how easily one cookie turns into the whole pack right?)
Anywho ~ it reminded me of when I quit smoking 15 years ago. I tried for YEARS, before I realized I had to go cold turkey. And the only way to do it was to tell myself DAILY smoking was killing me - that I WAS NOT suicidal or delusional about all the toxins in it - and it didn't matter how many other people happily smoked into their 90's!! I literally had posts its everywhere that said PUT SOMETHING ELSE IN YOUR MOUTH or DO SOMETHING ELSE WITH YOUR HANDS.
I think I had maybe 3 or 4 cigarettes within a 5 year period, and nothing since. Similarly, I have to take away all the "just a little bit" excuses I've been giving myself and look at excess sugar the same way. IT'S POISON. That's a well documented fact.
Hope I don't sound preachy or anything! Just wanted to share my perspective in case it helps someone. We can't always be easy on ourselves. Sometimes we have to bash our heads with an ugly truth to shake free of past conditioning. Everyone's story is different ✨but we all need words that give us the motivation and self-discipline we need to take action and do something different. Peace and love, fitfam.

@reshii_devi Thanks so much for your response to my post. Emotions can be so powerful. I quit smoking in 2007 and I rarely drink alcohol unless its a special occasion so I drown my sorrows or woes in food. Especially sugar. I 100% agree that sugar is TOXIC. Especially to a type 2 diabetic and cancer survivor like me. And yet..... It's what I reach for.......If I could tame that demon, I would definitely be fit and healthy and slender. I'll never give up the battle or throw in the towel! Today was another day filled with a "situation" causing me great discomfort and depression. I do not plan on caving in tonight. I have a square of 85% cacao dark chocolate waiting for me if I MUST have something sweet. It's the only chocolate or sweet I never overeat because, quite honestly, it's very bitter and I just don't like it that much. However, it's so concentrated that it will often do the trick. I just have to CHOOSE it over other things and that, my dear, is the rub! Thanks again for your insights and your sharing! [[[hugs back to you]]]6 -

Oh geez! I’m so sorry if I came across that way..I think the word “trigger” sounded stronger than I meant it to. I should’ve said “it brought back memories” for me. I used to say it all of the time as a way to inadvertently push things to the side. But we are all different. I was wrong to insert myself and overshadow your own experiences.
I hope you wouldn’t stop posting...

👣💦🌺Just 10 more days 🌺💦👣
I’m a retired 65 year old Oregon gal who enjoys getting out in nature. I started this latest journey to better health on October 1st with a high of 148.2. I have slowly been checking off 5 pounds at a time, and most likely are on my final 5 pounds of this journey. This round I really need to watch the water 💦 intake and remember to leave the evening snacks alone. I hope to flirt with 130 a time or 2️⃣ on this round!! 😉

65 yrs young F, 5ft 4 Round 252 (my 182nd). Thank you @quiltingjaine for keeping this going, so grateful.
Goals for this round; to lose! Scale has been a bit erratic the previous round, obviously reflects rate of consistency (or not!). Must concentrate on consistency in the next round, really want to get back down especially as at the moment the choice of my clothes that comfortably fit is limited, do not want to have to buy a bigger size!! And to break the “always looking for something to put in my mouth” syndrome!
Good luck everyone for a successful round.Achieved goal weigh of 125lb in summer 2016 by losing 66lb and then gradually gained between 7 and 11 since then & didn't want to gain any more, it’s taken me 75 rounds to achieve target of 130 = back to maintenance!! But then I crept up again, so need to get back to around 134. A healthy lifestyle must be a permanent way of life.

2/27: no reason, just bumped back up; same pattern as in the last challenge, up/down. Eating well, exercising; logging food. Just my body adjusting and heading in the right direction.
Two months in MFP this time; I'm recognizing the patterns that led me to regain 20 lbs in 16 months. It wasn't travel, or holidays or eating out. And it wasn't just this time, it's been my whole life.
After the pandemic I got in the habit of having a glass of wine with dinner and then while watching TV or reading, I would have "one or two" Werther's caramels or Hershey's kisses, which became my way to "relax" at the end of the day. I thought I was satisfying my craving but was actually prolonging it. I'd have one which didn't quite satisfy, so I'd have another. Two glasses of wine instead of one, 4 or 5 candies instead of 2. A little here or there. A snack bag of chips. The weight crept up and I started avoiding the scale. 3 lbs, then another 5. I'd think, oh that's no big deal, I can lose that quickly.
20 lbs later, not so quick or easy. But better caught now than with the next 20 lbs (like before.) And it dawned on me.
This can't be about losing the 20. It needs to be self-examination of habits that keep me stuck in self-defeating patterns- and addiction. Sugar will always set me off, so I just can't have it every day. That's a fact. The other fact is that I'll need to be aware for good, not just for this 20. It's not like cigarettes or alcohol which I can eliminate completely. Here's the catch- I have to eat, and want to enjoy it. Changing what foods I enjoy, how much and how often is part of the challenge.
Thanks for being here and giving me the space to look at my own habits through all of your eyes. I see myself in all your posts.

Round 25
February 26 – March 6, 2024
62 year old female, 5’5”. I am married, semi-nomadic (we live in three states, Mass, Maine, Florida).
GW Maintaining between 124 - 126
Continuing to figure out maintaining, and to work on best nutrition and exercise.
History:Harry and Han are our cats, who travel with us. Have two “kids”, who are very much adults, a DGS, and second GS on the way. We have two parents, 87(mother), 85(MIL) still with us, and I have logically been needing to help them more as they age. I got my act in gear during COVID, somewhat inspired by NOT becoming my parents. I lost 30 lbs and was exercising daily. Unfortunately, I am an “all in or not” person. Hubby and I seeing our family home and downsizing distractions, plus medical incident with my father and all their new needs, became an excuse (father has since passed and I am DPOA, Personal representative AKA executor, trustee, and oversee the majority of my mother’s care). A year and a half later, I gained 25 lbs and lost all my athletic improvements. I need to figure out balance and how to make health be a daily priority for life!

Don’t want to say “maintenance” per se because that conjures up pre-conceived, misguided thinking/process on my part. (Why? It’s NEVER worked!) Rather, I am now living, believing & owning: Fit & Healthy. I am launching my “Chapter_3” @ 65 years young -focusing on building strength and losing body fat.
Today: high protein day and will hit all measures. Starting early this morning. 🙆♀️🏋️♀️🤸🏼🎾.
BTW- For anyone who is interested I detailed my WOE in “About me”
Good luck to everyone!💪🏻😎
2/27: ✅Did it all! However, only 🏋️♀️for 10 min and not 20. Really don’t enjoy 🏋️♀️but WILL make it happen Wednesday. Gorgeous day -another day spent outside.
Played basketball (or TRIED to play basketball) with my DGS yesterday…. (He is almost 10) Wow, wore me OUT! Then last night I read THIS:
“Cultivating a fit body lays the foundation for overall well-being: a sharper mind, resilient health, and sustained vitality. Gaining the stamina and movement to actively participate with loved ones and enjoy them.” That’s it! The ultimate goal is not “looking good” it’s creating a lifetime of vitality!
NSV: “Food is fuel”. I’m not 100% there yet but almost! The last week or so what I put in my mouth is not an issue… I’m just trying to check off my macros!
I’m also realizing that my day-to-day life is so much easier when food is fuel… It’s freeing up time to explore new hobbies and new habits!

About Me & Health Journey
****************************F65, 5’6” married, MawMaw Proud. Clean Ketovore 🥩. Track macros, kcals, all exercise and NSVs. HW 172lbs in 2010.
WOE since 7/2023: Whole Foods only. Emphasis is animal-based proteins. EGGS, Beef, pork, chicken, seafood, venison and grass-fed whey protein. I count macros & kcals - always will. (Since portion control is my issue). Keto is high-fat but I’m now leaning lower fat with leaner proteins. My mother was diagnosed with celiac’s disease in her 50’s. Following her lead, I eliminated wheat, oat, barley, and rye several years ago…. Dairy? Hard cheese, HWC and butter -an occasional Greek yogurt. Vegetables destroy my digestive system… Of course, I love vegetables, but when I splurge, I pay for it for a few days… I do enjoy berries, lemon, lime. Avocados are my weakness. Enjoy a piece of dark chocolate on occasion. Generally, I eat btw noon and 6 pm. (IF18/6). Alcohol? Used to be a social drinker and would enjoy a good martini/scotch or Paloma at home while cooking dinner. NO MORE. Root of many evils. Primarily, the destruction of will power and the enemy of optimal choices. I’d rather venture toward my best-self. This is me. I feel terrific.

The yo-yo is exhausting & unhealthy. Takes up way too much brain space.
I learned MY choices created an emotional 🎢 roller coaster with yo-yo weight and fitness. My forever goal is to be healthy & fit & maintain approx. 130lbs & IN SHAPE.
As I age it becomes much, MUCH more difficult to lose weight. I could lose 15lbs easy in 8 weeks up to 2022 ish … This is not true anymore.
While active with 🚶♀️& 🎾 it’s clear a ST 🏋️♀️🤸🏼routine was absent. Strength & balance are 💯most important now. Time to incorporate ST 🏋️♀️ 🙆♀️🤸🏼as my TRUE focus.

I'm Crystal! 40 yrs old, wife and mama of 3 (ages 14, 13 & 5)! I counted calories about 5 yrs ago and got down to goal weight. Life got in the way and I stopped being mindful and gained it all back. What I've realized from then to now, is that this truly is a lifestyle. I can't eat any way I want and expect to keep the weight off. At the moment I'm doing OMAD (Started Feb 5th). I'm unsure if I'll stick with this my whole journey or if I'll add another meal for 2 meals a day. I'm also trying to keep my calories still within the 1200 range and watching sugar and carbs. I feel so much better since I've cut back on everything. Once I do get to goal weight, of course I will add some calories back in to maintain.

your post really caught my eye. Mostly because the words “I need to” are very triggering for me.
I read in a book somewhere to change your words you can change your mindset. Instead of “I have to” say “I want to” or instead of “I need to” say “I get to”
This made me stop and think. Is triggering good or bad? I generally think of it as negative but in this case, for me at least, I think it was a positive. It made me realize that I don’t HAVE TO GO TO THE GYM, I NEED to go. When I first went several years ago my husband doubted I would go for a second visit but I did. And a 3rd, 4th and 5th at which time he told me I had become a Gym Rat. Now I NEED to get back in that habit. So thank you for triggering me to take action!1 -

2/27-173-life has been very busy and is finally slowing down and I am finally able to pick and choose what is going to take up my time. The bees are all out in the blooming almond trees and will remain here for a few more weeks, so I’ll probably just walk at home. Got a heat mat and started a bunch of seeds. Now need to get the raised beds put together and filled.6 -

So thank you for triggering me to take action!
Words are a tricky business.. Lol
I definitely won’t be use the word “triggering” anymore..(unless pertaining to myself), it seems to invoke a negative connotation, and this place should be about lifting people up. I feel bad that I might have made someone else feel bad, so THANK YOU for putting your positive spin on it!6 -

I forgot to weigh myself until I’d had coffee and a big glass of water, so I’ll let it go for today. It’s my Monday lunch out with a friend day, so I skipped breakfast and won’t have much dinner. Hard to believe it’s the last week of February!
2/27 - 194.6
I had a big lunch yesterday, but no breakfast or dinner, so all good. I started today with a high-protein breakfast and feel much more positive than I have the past few weeks. It’s gorgeous out this morning so I’m doing a few outdoor things before the rain moves in. Yay!

~ Ok pre-TMI I was 178.4 and then post-TMI I was 176.1! (Still so thankful for code names!) But when the difference is so extreme like that, I’m going to divide and subtract the difference. Because well, I must just REALLY had to go!! lol
~ Still having a hard time getting back on the treadmill. Dealing with a little PTSD when I was on there for too long Friday and Saturday which made my feet sore afterwords. This is probably contributing to my “I can eat whatever I want” mental state of mind right now.

02/25 …..178.2….. ENDING WEIGHT LAST ROUND
02/26 -180.2- (Trend weight 180.2) TMI would help but that’s not the whole reason….. It was a very very emotional day yesterday and I ate my emotions last night. It didn’t help…. Good luck everyone this round, I know I’m going to need it as I work myself back into the 170’s once again!
02/27 -179.4- (Trend weight 180.2) I’ve been sticking to my planned meals for the last few weight-gaining days but struggling with the night time snacks. I’m happy to report that last night I had no problem controlling snacks. I ate the same basic foods/meals as the day before so I have to wonder….why are some days so hard and others so easy? Part emotions? Part boredom? Part old habits kicking in? I dunno but I do hope for another “easy” and good day today. I need to be more securely planted in the 170’s if I ever hope to begin inching toward the 160’s. Incidentally, if can get below 174.4 I will be my lowest weight in 17 years. Where did the time go and why has it taken me so long?
