I’m new and need to lower my carbs fast. I have no experience with any method except counting calories. I need a diet plan that tells me what to eat while I learn. Is there anything like that? I’ve been given a list (short) of foods I can eat but it’s hard to make a meal. I’m discouraged already. My cholesterol level is 258 and I don’t want to go on meds. I was given 3 months to fight it with diet and exercise!

You're not the only one trying to lower cholesterol. There are several threads about cholesterol.
If you need to lower carbs fast, cut down on bread and grain while you are learn. Veggies and fruit are "carbs" too, but generally not so high in calories, so not so many grams of carbs. You can learn a LOT in the first week or so.0 -
I think the answer would depend on the reason you need to lower your carb intake.
For example, have you been told that you are diabetic, or at risk of becoming diabetic?
Or is there a different reason?0 -
Try carnivore. Do it for a week and see how you feel.0

I've done low carb. I've done it a lot. Had some success. I always, ALWAYS get tired of the food. It's a hard one to sustain. Meat and cheese meat and cheese.
There are some low carb breads that are fairly tasty. They are expensive, but I use them now in my "diet" even though I don't low carb simply because they're low calorie.
There are a ton of recipes and different ways to low carb. Check youtube for videos.
I hope it works for you. For me I just couldn't do it anymore.1 -
You could take a look at https://www.eatthismuch.com/ . It will generate a keto (very low carb) menu plan with recipes for a chosen calorie level, and I think it will generate a low carb (not as low carb as keto) plan if you sign up for a free account. You can see the basic function (example days) without an account at that web site.
Honesty: I don't use that site. (I also don't work for them or benefit in any way from mentioning the site.) I've played with it a little bit to see how it works. It seems like it could be helpful for someone who wants a defined meal plan. I'm too hedonistic/flaky to have anyone tell me what I want to eat.1
