5'4" little to loose, a lot to tone

So i'm 23 & 5'4" and weigh 135. I would like to loose a little more weight..maybe 120-125ish. My biggest goal is just to tone up the normal problem areas. Anyone out there in the same boat?? Add me if you are! Would like to have people who have the same goals!

I am 36, 5'3 and 140 wanting to do the same thing. I do hope to drop pounds, but my primary goal it so tone and tighten on top of being healthier. I don't really care what the scale says, as long as I look and feel great! Seeing the 120's on the scale will feel like a pretty huge victory though, I can't lie!0

Already lost some weight but I'd like to lose more to get to around 120lbs as well as tone up A LOT!0

You can all feel free to add me if you want....I started here in Feb at 143, reached goal of 125 in late May, dropped more and now weigh between 118 and 120. I am 48 years old and 5'3" tall. I NEVER thought I'd be at this weight again0

i am 5'4 1/2 (i really need that 1/2)... same goals... want to get down to 130 but overall more toned. i've lost 9 and i have 11 more to go. i hope it's not too bad for these last 11 lb.0

So speaking of toning.. I'm waiting for 30DS to come in the mail, as soon as it gets here i'm going to start and definately get my calorie counting back to where it should be! Maybe get a group together who wants to start around the same time?0

Yep, me too. I'm 5'4" and currently a somewhat lean 139 lb. I'm looking to lean up more and get closer to 130 lb. Feel free to add me ladies.0

Currently I am doing a strength training program that I love but doesn't include much cardio. Try to do some running and elliptical a couple times a week. So glad to see so many others with similar goals!!0

I just started a new (less active) job, and have been in the process of moving for the last few months. Now that i'm settled in at home and work i'm ready to get into some sort of routine again. Once my 30DS Dvd shows up i'm going to do that everyday after work and run the trails by my house. Hoping that will be a good enough start0

That sounds like an awesome start! I actually started C25K (never been a runner in my life) just before starting 30DS. Once I got into the first week of 30DS and C25K together, I developed shin splints. For now, I am taking it easy doing 30DS and about 45 min of brisk walking on my treadmill 4-5 times a week.
BTW, I when I say that I walk at 3.5 mph on my treadmill and that is BRISK, people look at me like I have 9 heads! I can imagine a lot of you will be able to relate. Short legs unite! :laugh:0 -

I'm currently on L1-D8 of 30DS. Lovin' it! Thought I was in so-so shape but WOW! That's a good one. I also run 3-6 miles ~3 times a week (group training for my 1st half-marathon), ride my mountain bike on my fav dirt trails 2-3 times a week (my absolute fav sport), and try to plug some time in on the weights. During winter my ride time decreases while my run time and weight time increases. Maybe that'll be a nice change in routine for my bod and it'll "shock" it into leaner shape.0

When I first started running about 3 years ago I developed horrible shin splints. It was so bad that I sometimes would wrap duct tape quite tight around the calf part of my pants legs at work to relieve the pain! Got a few wierd looks for that. :laugh: Anyway, I didn't give it enough rest and ended up partially tearing my achilles tendon! Took forever for me to come back from. Not trying to scare you just wanted to share my shin splint experience. I think my shin splint came from 2-3 different causes to make the perfect storm.
1. Didn't have the right shoes for my run style. I know it's expensive but try to find a local run shop where they actually watch you run and walk. And take your current tennis shoes so they can look at the wear spots. Tell them about your shin splint pain.
2. Don't start off with too many miles. Did I see you were doing the C25K program? That' should be a good one to start with. I know how hard it is to pace yourself when you feel good one day, but think about the shin splints that might happen from overuse over the next 3-4 days.
3. Rest and stretch. The only thing that actually "cures" a pained shin splint is rest. It takes longer to heal that you think. Use that time to do yoga or something to stretch and strengthened those muscles while they heal. (Although from your profile pic it looks like your pretty flexible as it is! :laugh: )
I'm of course not an expert; just been in your shoes (pun intended).
EVERYONE: I do my 30DS barefoot on the carpet. Tends to keep my blisters from jumping jacks to a minimum. Plus, it strengthens the muscles in your feet.0 -

I recently added running and this 30DS business to my current lifestyle which also recently includes the addition of tennis. I am going to be fitted properly for shoes, probably next week. I am still pushing through everything minus C25K. My shin splints do get irritated in both tennis and in 30DS. I am just trying to find a happy medium. Every time I feel like I am having a great day with them, a little activity flares them up! lol
I thought about 30DS barefoot. My biggest concern was again the shin splints! I read about running and other impact activities without cushion on the heel actually causing or making shin splints worse, so I have definitely not done that. As someone that adores yoga, it comes natural to me to be barefoot.0 -

hey i just finished 30 day shred and moved onto ripped in 30. i liked 30 day shred. it seemed to help me tone a little but i want more now. i've bought a few more of her dvd's and planning on doing them for a few months until i reach where i want to be.0
