one of those days

Ever have one of those days when you eat something bad that you didn't intend to and it totally ruins your calorie count? Then, rather than accepting that you messed up and don't eat anymore, you figure you've already done damage, why not continue?

It started with a cupcake. I took some yummy st. pattys day cupcakes into work for a potluck, the ones with the really light fluffy tons of frosting....I wasn't going to have one, but they just looked so good. Then later I was practically falling asleep at work so I decided to have a glass of pepsi.

Then we went out to dinner and I had my meal planned out, I was only supposed to have half of my fries but I ate them all. Afterward it was such a nice day out and we were right across the street from the ice cream place, so we just had to get ice cream. I gave away as many of the cupcakes as I could, but we still have a few and I of course just had to have another.

Ugh, but I'm done now.....I'm going to bed before I can eat anymore.

I know exactly how you feel. There was a potluck at my work today. I went way over my calories today as well. But logging it on here actually makes you look at it. And then you are less likely to do it again. It happens!!!

How did 1 cupcake mess up your calories for the day for you to think oh what the hell I already had a cupcake my day is ruined now I can have soda and french fries--
The cupcake didn't mess up your calories it was everything afterwards- you could have rebounded from the cupcake- Sorry if I was harsh but 1 cupcake doesn't mess up calories for the day in my eyes- you could have just ate a salad to balance it out-

One of those days indeed =) But you know, everyone's allowed a 'cheat day', and it is a holiday, so why not endulge? Sometimes it's just darn fun to do (even if you feel guilty aftewards). I did the same thing today myself, and that's what drew me to this topic. Hehe. I felt guilty as I ate the last bit of that Cookie-Dough Blizzard... but like everyone's saying, tomorrow is another day.

Don't feel guilty about that delicious cupcake! Everyone deserves a treat sometimes.

Oh, and Happy St. Patrick's Day everyone! Celebrate by treating a little and not being harsh on yourself. That's precisely what I did =D

    Cheers!

Don't want to sound harsh but I think harsh is just what is needed here. One cupcake does not ruin a whole day unles it's the size of a car. You could have saved your day had you just stopped and thought about what you where really doing. Sounds to me like you use the cupcake to eat other things you really wanted to eat.

I had a day like that yesterday. I was just in one of those edgy, impulsive, what the heck kind of moods. I went over by 495 calories. But I decided today I would get back up and dust myself off, I exercised, and am not going to eat all my calories tonight.

    Hang in there

Dont feel bad girl. Today was that day for me too. I went over my calories by a 1000. Possibly more...
Damn St pattys day. I thought, ok, a little Irish car bomb here, maybe a couple beers there wont hurt...
but oh it sure lowers my inhibitions and I just ate whatever I felt like!
OH well today is done. I will work on being better tomorrow. Tomorrow is a new day

I went over my calories too, and I feel horrible about myself.

However, in the back of my mind I am thinking, "This only means I need to work harder towards my goal!"

Next time you are tempted to eat a cupcake, remember today and remember how crappy it made you feel. Then think about how much weight you will lose in the long run and how amazing that will make you feel.

As long as we take our mistakes and learn from them, then we are on the right track!

No, but as I said, it STARTED with the cupcake, and snowballed from there. And.....I'm human.

We are all human- but it could have stopped at the cupcake was what I was trying to say- 1 cupcake can't mess you up you have the power to stop

I think she came on saying she had a bad day. She knows she goofed up. But really, is it necessary to jump all over her? I'm sure she feels bad enough about it.

Amy.. you do know how to eat correctly by now. You had a bad day, brush it off and move forward.

Oh and 2 -3 hours of cardio could help

Thank you, that is exactly it. I know how to eat since I've lost the weight I have, but like everyone can I had a bad day and it snowballed. It's the supportive comments that help, not the harsh ones.

Plan for today....work out extra, drink tons of water, and probably not eat my exercise calories to try to even it out....weigh in day tomorrow, hopefully the scale will move in the right direction.

I used to have "one of those days" all the time.

Fortunately, I recognized what a nasty pattern it was for myself. Part of this change is either a) allowing a treat (cupcake) and sticking to your guns the rest of the day (don't even get the fries, saying no to the ice cream because you did eat the cupcake, etc) OR b) not even allowing one treat because of this snowball effect.

That's just what I've had to learn and deal with.....also, I always remember that sicky, super full, bloated, i-just-ate-crap, feeling and try to always keep that in the FRONT of my mind.
