liquid consumption

I know drinking water is really good for you, however I think water is so boring! I have to force myself to drink it. I can drink diet soda & energy drinks all day long (which I know is really bad, yes go ahead and boo & hiss at me) and I can drink tea, as long as it is GOOD tea. I've tried those powders/mixes you can add to water & I don't like those either.
My other problem is this, the bathroom is SO FAR AWAY from my desk at work. Seriously it takes me 2 minutes to walk to the bathroom. So If I drink too much during the day, I spend too much time away from my desk going to & from the bathroom. Then if I drink too much when I get home, I'm up all night using the restroom.
How imporant is it to consume liquids during the day? Is it better to drink bad liquids (soda, etc) to up your liquid consumption or just drink what little water I can manage to get down?

Drink water.
Increase your intake a bit at a time until your system gets used to it.
Soda, etc don't' count.0 -
Any liquid counts (so my doctor told me) but some are just not good for you. I add lemon to my water as I hate plain water. I also just force myself to drink water but still gag. I also used to add diluted juice and still managed to lose over 100 pounds. People will tell you that it doesn't count but it does. It is up to you whether you want to drink it. As long as you are getting the liquid, that is what counts. I would not advise soda though.0

All I can say is just do it. Not to copy Nike or anything but seriously just drink water and eventually you will see your tastes change. It is really true. I know everytime I get sick and want to drink sports drinks instead it takes me a week to get the taste back for nothing but water.
Fake it till you like it type thing.
Plus the exercise will be good unless your productivity gets too low.0 -
I NEVER drink plain water -- it doesn't matter! FLUIDS matter...
Everything counts -- includig soda (the reason you dont want to drink that is the calories/sugar - not that it doesn't count as a fluid)
Coffee, tea, protein shakes, crystal light, juice --

Yep. You'll get used to it and then you'll find you actually enjoy water more than other beverages.0 -
Yikes at all the people gagging down water with lemon -- knock it off and drink something you enjoy0

You'll get used to drinking more water. Drink cold water from the refrigerator and see if you like that better. Try adding lemon or lime juice for some natural flavor. I hear ya about being far from the bathroom. I have similar issues at work, but I try to drink a lot of water and unsweetened hot tea with breakfast, go once before I leave home and go again at work.
I'd say cut the other drinks and maybe you'll develop a thirst for water? Good luck.0 -

I honestly agree the more you drink water, It does take time to build up too. This is a change for the better! Heatlhy Journey!! :flowerforyou:0

I didn't like it either but now I get over 8 glasses a day. I bought two 32 oz water bottle with squirt tops. I drink one when I take my vitamins in the morning and the other on my walk. For some reason the squirt top helps drink it down faster! Whenever I am in the car I bring another water bottle and drink it while I am driving. Yes, I know where every bathroom is!! But it is worth drinking the water. Good luck in finding what will work for you! : )0

I have always HATED water but my Dr suggested using Crystal Light or something similar and I love it and now I drink water most of the time even without it. After I got used to it, I can tell when my body is craving it.0

Try adding crystal light. I makw a pitcher and use twice the water that you are supposed to, just enough for flavor. It might not be as good as plain water but it allows me to get intwice the amount that I would with plain water. As for the bathroom run can't help you much there, learn to go faster. lol. I'm in there alot too. Just think running to the bathroom is burning more calories. HAHAHA.0

Try eating more spicy food. Not only does it speed up your metabolism it will make you thirsty and you will want to drink more water. Also if you space out your liquid consumption throughtout the day you won't have to be constantly going to the restroom, and you could probably get away with going during your break times.0

Think of all that walking to the restroom as exercise! :devil:0

totally agree with u on not liking plain water and up all night! i use crystal light to flavour my water or just flavoured water from costco. tea and coffe counts too0

Seriously, just drink the water. See the walk to the bathroom as exercise. It is really true that you acquire a taste for water after a while (how long, I can't say), it's a matter of habit. I've been drinking nothing but water and tea for years now and I'm not tempted by soda in the least anymore. And all the calories and chemicals you remove from your diet are gonna be an added bonus to the money you save.0

I...will...not...get...involved...again....

Have you tried Mio? It's a liquid you use to flavor your water, zero calories. You only have to use a couple of drops, but it's better than plain, boring water!0

Plain water is good for keeping your skin clear and moisturized and your urine a light color instead of dark yellow. But you can still lose weight with minimal water. So it really depends on your goal. I started out 4-5 cups a day and now I drink 16 minimum a day. It takes time, but you can do it if you want. Although I don't necessarily "love" water, it's my drink of choice every day and I rarely drink anything else but it.0
