So I finished day 2 level 1 of 30ds yesterday and my thighs are SO sore. I don't know how I pushed through it yesterday. Is it ok to keep doing it everyday and just pushing through it? or should I rest for a day or so? If you did the 30ds what did you do?

YEAH! The burn is what you live for. Try walking on them -- endorphins through the roof. haha.

This is the pain part of "no pain no gain"

Admittedly, I'm not doing 30DS, but I am doing a pretty hardcore book workout. My thighs are killing me today too. I just make sure to stretch out a bit, and everything is fine.

I did notice they were pretty sore when I would first start walking but after a little it wasn't too bad. Stairs scare me right now lol. Going up them hurts but going down them is the worst.

Make sure you stretch really good. I do more after the video is over. Also give yourself a good massage with your lotion after your shower. I also take a recovery protein shake after and it has really helped. Q

Thanks for the advise. I'll start stretching more and maybe look into drinking protein shakes after to help.

That is BS. lISTEN TO YOUR BODY IF YOU NEED A DAY OF REST FROM JILLIAN THEN DO SOMETHING ELSE INSTEAD.

I agree with the other poster (regarding Protein shake)

I've been doing 30 day shred and did notice a difference when I used a protein shake for muscle recovery....there are various ones on the market, but I use Isopure whey protein....I definitely notice a difference when working out hard when using a protein supplement vs not using one with hard workouts....but you do what works for you!

For me it was my calves... OH EMM GEE. That jump rope move still does me in. I'm on Day 6 of level 1 and was able to push through... it's better now but my calves still kill me on that one move. LOL :)

Chocolate milk has everthing your body needs to rpair muscles. I have a good low cal recipe if you have vanilla protein powder. .5c. cold water, .5c. orange juice, 1 scoop protein powder. Taste like an orange jullious.(SP)

Trying to get DOWN the stairs was what killed me last time I started. Take an anti-inflammatory for the pain :)

Yes! The calves! But it was the jumping jacks that did it to me!
  • I scrolled through all the replies to this, so I'm sorry if I'm repeating what's already been said ..

But the best thing for sore muscles is to exercise and keep moving. So just stick with it. It'll be worth it!

I agree with the few of you that said walking down the stairs was a killer!

The first time I did the 30DS DVD, my legs almost gave out on me when I went to walk down the stairs to put my shoes away!

I have a lot of muscule, I guess you could say I'm thick....I'm trying to lean down but I'm afraid to use the whey protein. Does it build muscule, or does it just help with feeling full?

I'm only on day 3 of 30DS and I ache so much! My arms and legs hurt every time I move! It makes me feel like I've had a good workout though! At the moment I'm pushing through. Once you're warmed up again it's fine! I'm sure my body will get used to Jillian's pain!

Personally, I keep pushing through. On day 18 today without one day of rest! And also doing c25k. Gotta challenge those muscles or they won't change!

Just watch the cals in those protein shakes and choc milk - you'll end up eating more cals than you burned! A recovery drink should not be neccessary after a 20 min workout.

The one I use is for muscle recovery and growth. It is about 93 calories and 20 grams of protein. I don't get full off it. If you don't want to build muscle, I don't think this will be best. It just depends on your overall protein intake. But do some research to find which one will work best. Optimum Nutrition gold standard 100% Whey is a good one as well. It has a few more calories but is not as intense for building muscles. Q

It's usually the last thing I have at night and it is only 93 calories. It's helped me a lot. I still come in under my calories for the day. Q
