Has anyone followed the eating plan by Dr. Peter J. D'Adamo, "Eat Right 4 Your Type". I saw a magazine cover with Dr. Oz's picture and the article said that when he eats according to the way he should for his blood type how good he feels. Was just wondering if anyone has tried it. I assume you would still need to stay within your calories that MFP has set which makes it easy to track.

There is no evidence that you should eat based on blood type. If I recall correctly, the diet itself looked reasonably healthy. So, there is no harm in following it. The blood type thing is just a gimmick though.0

Now that's funny right there! Made me laugh out loud - literally!!0 -
This makes my eye twitch.
LOL mine too.
I also agree that it's probably a gimmick :P but if it's healthy eating it doesn't hurt to try it!0 -
Great job on your weight loss!! I read the 'eat right for your type' book, and while it seems to work, it wouldn't for me. I'm a type A blood, which means a vegetarian diet. I grew up eating meat/chicken/pork at every meal, so I wouldn't do this diet, but others may try it and works for them!0

I am a medical lab scientist and a supervisor for a blood bank. The antigens on your red cells determine your blood type. And they are in no way related to how you metabolize food. If they diets are healthy and reasonable, definitely pick one that would work for you. But don't feel restrained to one particular diet because of your blood type.0

I personally luv it...very healthy AND gives you plenty of energy. I don't stick to it "religiously" but I definitely luv the energy since my ex showed it to me. He has a rocking body and all he does is sit-ups/push-ups and eats for type O.1

I read it until it descended into quackery (very soon). I seem to remember it told me to avoid cinnamon like the plague. Yeah, it's because of all that cinnamon I've stuffed my face on that I'm overweight. Hmm. I'd agree that it's a gimmick, but anything that advocates fruit & veg isn't going to hurt. Just ignore the mumbo-jumbo.0

This makes my eye twitch.
That's caused by not eating by your blood type.0 -
Does anyone actually believe anything Dr. Oz says anymore?0

Hahaha, high five :laugh:0 -
I have the book I'm trying the diet but just started. A doctor gave me a copy of the book years ago and told me to follow it and the problems I was having would be gone. I didn't like that I couldn't have cucumber so I didn't try the diet then. Decided to give it a try after seeing Dr Oz promote the diet.
There are many many great reviews on amazon from people that are doing the diet and it's changed their lives in great ways.
As for the silly willys that are leaving comments about eyes twitching...that's just rude and you people thinking about leaving rude comments really need to take a look at yourselves and start working on that attitude. Comments should be supportive or not at all...it's wrong to try and bring someone down because of whatever reason ...it's being a bully and being a bully is just plan stupid....0 -
Thanks for all the replies, appreciate all the info! :flowerforyou:0

So if someone said they were thinking of doing something we all know to be harmful, you're saying we should just not say anything, rather than inform them of the risks, and disagree with their decision?
Sorry, i disagree. Sometimes the truth hurts. This isn't a kindergarten.0 -

I'm saying making negative comments without knowing facts and leaving no facts but just rude comments is being a bully.
leaving information about something being unhealthy or harmful is not being a bully but helpful.
I cannot find anything helpful about laughing about a real question or even worse making comments about eyes twitching....it's just plan rude and that's all there is to it.
If people can't be helpful in a nice way then it is best to just keep your mouth shut or your fingers away from the keys. the idea of having a message board isn't to bring each other down but to build each other up.
As far as having to be in kindergarten to be decent to another human is just silly....everyone knows we need to take that lesson through life and be nice all the way to the end. God never said be nice while in kindergarten only to rip at each others self esteem after leaving kindergarten.
That's my story and I'm sticking to it :0)0 -

What you need to remember and differentiate between is we are not having a dig at the actual poster, but the theory. OP make a post, fair enough, no problem. The article was, in most of our minds, total garbage, and we said as much.
That isn't bullying the poster.0 -
I read that book and was all for it until I found contradictions in it. One place says to avoid certain foods and in another place it was telling me to eat it. These were both sections for my blood type...I personally feel if it grows or had a mama then it is good to eat. Stay away from boxed food and all the chemicals. I like the "Abs diet for Women" by David Zinczenko and "Master your Metabolism" by Jillian Michaels. I have found that these books to be more helpful0

I don't follow it, but I know people who swear by it. I'm a Type A which is vegetarian. When I follow the diet, I feel great. When my husband follows mine, he feels like garbage, but when he follows his own (Type
he feels amazing. My father in law has chronic problems that disappear when he follows his, so I think there is something to it. It's just way too hard to cook when there are more than 1 type in the house, so we dumped it. I still don't eat beef, but I do eat some chicken & fish(which is neutral for an A). So I do pretty well anyway. Type B is what's hard to deal with. Their benificial meats are game (deer, bison) or lamb. We don't buy any of that and it SO expensive.

Thanks Marynkatherine, I appreciated your comments. I didn't even understand the "eye twitching" comment or anybody finding it funny. I agree leaving comments that are helpful either supporting the way of eating or not supporting it is what I was seeking and your comments were very thoughtful and supportive. I obviously would not want to even try something that a lot of people thought was unhealthy. Again, thanks everyone for the informative comments!0

Agree! Disagreeing is one thing, but making fun of people is another!0
