Hey guys, I'm an 18-year-old male and I'm currently working on my overall weight and cardiovascular health. Weighed in this morning at 279 and hopefully I'm able to lose a couple pounds every week.

Welcome! Two pounds a week is pretty aggressive. It can be done, just be careful and watch for symptoms you're going too fast. A little easier for somebody your weight, and more sustainable for most people, would be one pound per week. That's still 50+ pounds per year!1

You won't be sorry for taking care of yourself now. Especially since you are probably still growing and your metabolism is at a peak. My daughter's best friend, a 20 year old man, lost 100 pounds last year by cutting out sugar and walking every day. It was difficult at first and 10 minutes was all he could do. But, he did 10 minutes every day for a week and increased it until he was up to a brisk hour before dinner. Good luck to you. You're very smart to realize the importance of getting healthy.1
