If I want something I have it . I just try to eat other better choices the rest of the day. It is better not to think of this a diet. Or I try to get a little more excercise that day.

welcome to My Fitness Pal (MFP).

it seems that logging is the issue. first dont beat yourself up over it. in the grand scheme of things, forgetting to log what you ate or how you worked out is really not that important. forgetting to breathe on the other hand is far more important.

as with everything, this is a habit. just like for some people (i am not one of them) they like to hit the gym first thing in the morning (or video workout). but thats not the way i am. the thing that is key is learning more about yourself and seeing what works best for you.

logging works best for everyone in different ways. some log once a day, some after everything they eat or exercise, and some are right in the middle. i am right in the middle. depending on what life has me doing at any given time, will dictate how or when i log for that day. i also have the android app on my cell phone which allows me to log food/exercise while on the go.

for me it took realizing the importance of logging. it is only by logging can you actually see what you are doing. for example. if you are a person that likes cheese with their hamburger. but after logging the information for adding cheese you realize (like me) that the calories and fat are just not worth the taste. or a i guess a better example would be. after logging a 30 minute session on the Elliptical, you see that up to 600 calories burnt and the adrenaline surge that courses through your body is well worth the price of taking 30 minutes out of your day.

in short, it is a mind thing. it is learning the value of doing a specific activity over another and doing it enough it becomes habit.

good luck! and we are all here for you - to help you, encourage you and celebrate with you along the way. Welcome again to MFP.

We all have days thtat are just a train wreck when it comes to our diets. I thinks its best just to accept (or even enjoy) that those days happen and just go right back to doing the right thing the next day. I try not to let yesterdays failure (or indulgence) effect maling the right choices today.

Don't worry about your failures when it comes to dieting. None of us are perfect, and are prone to have bad days. Just use those days as motivation to keep you on track to your goal :)
  • all good advice and really supportive, thank you, I will keep at it :-)
