Came accross an article today and found it interesting.

http://abcnews.go.com/Health/drunkorexia-alcohol-mixes-eating-disorders/story?id=11936398

Personally, I do this almost every friday/weekend. I burn an extra 300 cals at the gym, and skip out on lunch to save myself some calroies for a few beers & cocktails. I would be interested to hear what others think.

i was guess i was a drunkorexic in college... minus the throwing up part...eating one meal on the weekends [fri/sat] drinking a ton of water then binge drinking at night... it happens.... i would eat normally the rest of the week though

I do this every single weekend...let it be beer, wine or the awesome frozen drinks I make. And I get up everyday to either attend or teach a Zumba class...

    I think it's a balance for me....

I honestly can't remember the last time I drank. It freaks me out to think how many calories there are in alcohol. I rather enjoy my calories some other way (mostly sweets, really). Not sure my choice is any better than alcohol, but to each their own. No judging :)

I have been working out extra hard on Friday & Saturday to get extra calories for beer, plus I limit what I eat on those days so that I dont go over my calorie intake while having beers. I am just not willing to give up my beer!
  • As long as it's not obsessive, I think it's okay.

I think it's making something out of nothing. Today, I'm trying to eat less so I can go out for wing night tonight. Wingorexia? Maybe...

I do it to a certain extent. I'll eat less during the day to save up calories to drink a bit. Usually I don't drink too much though.

I don't think they are referring to you or I Jenna :)

Yes, I exercise more and eat lighter or healthier meals on friday/sat so I can go out and have fun and not feel bad about all beer I'm drinking! Or really any day of the week I know i'm in for a big meal or beer.

But these girls in the article eat nothing and then work out and then drink? or puke first? That probably is a serious issue.

Very funny! I am going to be doing this next friday, no throwing up just going light on meals to save calories and weight watchers points. One light beer is 3 freaking points! Grrrr! it is comforting to know that I won't have to drink as much for it to get me feeling niiiiiiice since I haven't binged in forever! YAY ME!!! :0)

Yeh...for those guys that are trying to lose weight, this is basically a must unless you want to kill your social life. I don't skip a meal, I just don't snack and cut back a little on lunch and breakfast. It's sad, but it's key.

I used to somewhat do this but one drink and my inhabitions go right out the window and next thing I know I'm scarfing down Taco Bell at 3am.

    Now I just don't drink.

LOL ditto - this last saw me tear through a fair few slices of peanut butter and toast the other weekend! I now know to hide the peanut butter at the back of the top of the cupboard before I go out drinking! : )

i drink 3 times a year..a SINGLE shot of jack daniels on my birthday, and a SINGLE shot on New Years Eve. I keep one free occasion to binge drink for the rest of the year. I am pleased to say this was last week in spain on business, where I necked a bottle of Jack each night all by myself every night for 4 nights straight. And so did my colleagues. But other than that, i never even have a single beer.

That article defintiely reads like EXTREME propaganda. It makes it sound like those kids are netting 300 calories a day, exercising all day long and drink an entire keg alone.

Most people try to eat as healthy as possible and exercise on days they're going out. It's all about balance either way. Sometimes, it's a mental thing, too. When we go out, we remember we pounded away at a treadmill for 60 minutes to "afford" that cocktail. It personally is a deterrant to me when I want to excessively drink.

We should all have healthy relationships with food AND alcohol but not everyone does. However, we don't all have eating disorders either.
