? for those who go to the gym

I just recently joined a gym and of course you go in there and just do what ever you want... I always end up doing the same routine but I'm wondering what everyone else does and how long do you train at the gym for.
I usually run on the treadmill for 30 minutes then go do 30 minutes of weights (upper and lower body) then I'll do another 20 minutes of cardio on the bike or stairmaster or something else... so I'm there for almost 1 1/2 hours when I go.

I have been very much into CrossFit for that past few months. It is great because there is a real sense of group membership with the others. Plus you get one hell of a workout. What we do for a routine changes from day to day so there is no boredom. Some of the workouts take as little as 10 minutes, while others can take as long as 45 minutes. It all depends on how much you put into it and how hard you want to go.0

Does your gym have classes? Try some of those if they do. Some of the cardio sculpt/boot camp/body pump classes are really good workouts. I love to spin so will do that several days a week. I have different strength workouts. I try to get a session with a trainer every 3-4 months and ask them to give me a workout that's a good mix of things then I will cycle through those workouts so I'm doing different strength stuff every time. If I go to the place where I can't do classes, I try a mix of cardio machines and will do interval workouts on them. It gets the job done, but I'd much rather be spinning!0

I usually go for about an hour and 45 minutes. My gym is very basic, no frills. I used to go to one that offered a bunch of different classes. If your gym does that, I recommend finding one you like and adding that to your workout schedule. It switches things up, plus the classes are fun!0

i normally just do weights at the gym, i need to get back on the treadmill. well i go to a local ymca as well as my gym and i do alot of different stuff there. zumba, aqua zumba, body pump, and swim. i tried turbo kick, but there was WAAAAYYY too much jumping going on in that class of someone of my size... ill try it again after i drop down some more weight...0

I go to the gym about 4-6 times a week and all I ever do are the classes that they provide. I find that when I workout by myself I don't push myself as hard as I can.
I do the Les Mills program and I LOVE IT!! If your gym offers any Les Mills classes (or really any class at all) - I suggest taking them. Don't be afraid and just know that you can do it!
I also have a fantastic gym buddy - we go to the gym together and it's great motivation.0 -

Does your gym have classes? That has made such a difference in this gym membership compared to those I've had (and dropped) in the past.
To answer your question, I try to do a variety of exercises to keep my body guessing and, more importantly, to keep me from getting bored. I'll do a step class, then zumba, then a weight-lighting class, spinning, combat, whatever class fits into my schedule. Once in a while, I'll run on the treadmill to augment a weights class, but I find that so boring compared to sweating to loud music along with a bunch of other people.0 -
10 minute cardio workout, 30-45 minutes strength training (workouts vary...different muscle groups on different days), then 30-45 minutes cardio afterwards. From my experience its best to do cardio after strength training.0

I can't do the same thing everyday or stay on a set schedule for the week. I'd get so bored! I go to Zumba at least 3 times a week. Then other days I'll do a cycle class or maybe hop in a yoga class... On the days I don't do a group class I run on the treadmill or climb on the stairmaster followed by some weights .. usually focusing on my legs or arms. I never do both on the same day.0
