Hi,

I've heard Oolong tea can help ease cravings for food (and cigarettes), just wondering if anyone else has heard this or had any success using it? I drink quite a bit of green tea which I find helps, but not tried Oolong. Does anyone know what it tastes like??

Thanks

I don't think it tastes too much different from green tea. They have a lot at Teavana, if that's in your area. When I went to China last year I completely fell in love with oolong!!!

I think people say that all of the teas help cravings and hunger because the body has a hard time telling the difference between actually being thirsty/dehydrated and hungry. So, their way of saying "drink more" is hidden in the message of "this will help curb your hunger." But if Oolong tea is really a hunger suppresant, I'm going to buy some this weekend :)

It is a strong black tea. I like it very much, especially when the weather turns cold. It is much stronger than Lipton, for example. I never heard it had any affect on hunger.

I've heard that. I've also read that Oolong has certain properties which aid in overall weight loss - metabolism boosting and stuff like that. While I'm not sure if it's true, I'm a tea drinker anyway, so I switched to drinking Oolong in the morning (and more on cooler days). Stash Premium has some great flavored Oolong that has no calories. I still love my green tea, but I am seeing more steady weight loss since I started drinking Oolong.

Hope this helps. Good luck to you!

There is a type of Oolong called something like "Milk Oolong"...it is rather expensive.....but has a creamy type taste - - it is REALLY good! - - not sure i would say it helps with food cravings, though....might have to do more research on that! lol

lol i'm addicted to this tea its the only tea I drink now and I always put lemon in my tea :)
  • I've tried several different brands of oolong tea... It's similar to green tea however has a more 'earthy' flavor.... I don't particularly think it's a tea that i would want to drink 24/7 however I do have a cup every now and then.... I don't feel the benefits are any better then green, black, or white tea... I tried the oolong tea diet for a while... it was 3-6 cups a day... I saw no major benefit from this.... additionally it is very expensive for a high quality brand.

Thanks everyone I think I may just go and buy some! Sounds like it a nice tea and I really am enjoying green tea. I just didn't know if it could help at the TOM when I'm craving chocolate an junk food! But if it's a nice enough tea then I don't need to wait till the TOM! I used to work as a stop smoking advisor and several of my clients reported it stopped them craving the cigs, but I didn't know if that was just because they were distracting themselves from the cigs! Ive also heard green teas and Oolong can increase metabolism, so maybe there is some truth in it! Don't think it will cut out hunger altogether, but if it curbs the odd craving it could be worth it!

Seen on Dr. Oz that oolong tea is good for boosting the metabolism. You need to drink 3 cups a day.
