    Hi all! I'm new to maintenance and would love to keep accountable.

    How long in maintenance: 3 months (a maintenance newborn!) I've struggled with my weight all my life -gaining and losing and gaining it back - and was at my highest weight before the pandemic when I decided to pack on 30 more pounds for good measure. My highest weight was 227 in June of 2023, when something finally clicked with the combo plate of things I was trying and I find myself in the shocking new world of maintenance!
    Maintenance weight range: I never want to go over 175 again (my original goal) so am aiming to stay in the 167-172 range to give myself a buffer if I go on vacation, etc.

    Successes/struggles of the week: I recently dug out an old pair of jean shorts that I haven't worn in years - they were a size 14 and were too big, so I ordered the same pair in a size 12 and was thrilled to find they fit me like a glove right out of the bag! Stuff like that is SO FUN after so many years of torture!

    Successes of the week:
    Remaining in my ‘ideal range’, and loving the freedom of everything in the wardrobe fitting (frequently with room to spare).

    Struggles of the week:
    Despite being absolutely bang-on centre of target, I get alarmed when I see a ‘gain’ due to salty food or more exercise than usual. I’ve decided to lower my target by 1lb to accommodate this… but also to shift my focus from pounds to inches, and increase my fitness and improve my shape that way. I think I thrive on a challenge?

    Successes/struggles:

    4 nights away on a coach holiday has left it’s mark. We had a good time but spent quite a large part of every day sitting in a coach finishing with over 7 hours cross-country coming home on Friday.

    I did get quite a bit of walking – sight-seeing – but no other exercise. I was mindful of what I was eating and drinking but did have dessert every night. Mostly drank water and black coffee, just one small beer on the last evening. The scale spiked at just under 50 kg on Saturday morning, but has already dropped by 700g. More water weight to come off. I don’t think I over-indulged to the extent of gaining more than 1kg (2.2 lbs) and probably less. 4,000 excess calories in 5 days is possible but not much more.

    Successes/struggles of the week: I've been eating at a slight deficit (about 100 calories less than my TDEE) the past couple of weeks because I have an event coming up this weekend for which I'll be having lots of indulgences. Although my average weight across the weeks has been a bit above the top of my range, I've been within range for several days during the week. The greater amount of fresh summer produce is making it easy to do so, so I think that after this week's event, I will continue eating at a slight deficit to get lower down into my range again.

    Not my 1st rodeo. This is my 3rd x using MFP to lose weight in the past 12 years.

    Maintained at 165 (+/- 5) for the past 3-4 years before this. Weight crept up to 175# and decided to lose 15# which I did in 2 months

    Weight Loss Goal: 160#

    Start Date/Wt: 04/02/2024 - 174.5#
    End Date;Wt: 05/28/2024 - 159.8#

    Now transitioning from weight loss to maintenance again.

    My mistake in the past was to stop using MFP to monitor food intake & weight daily after achieving my goal weight. So, I'm going to keep using MFP this time to avoid making that mistake again.

    Notes:

    Still losing weight. Don't have the same appetite as I did before I lost the weight. Will have to "do something" about it if I drop below 155.

    Current intake ~1500 cals/day. Exercise = 10k meters/70mins/500 cals today on a rower. I do not "eat back" my exercise cals. Will probably supplement w/a 300-500 cal/day protein shake if need be.

    Successes/struggles:

    The holiday weight gain has all dropped off – I knew it was mostly water (and digestive tract contents) weight. 5 days of eating more than usual but still being mindful would not result in more than about 500g (1 lb) actual weight gain. The spike has obviously affected my trend weight but it’s just an interesting statistic. Just data.
    I'm back at the lower end of my preferred range.

    Success/struggles: Doesn't look good. A pound a week would mean over 50 pounds in a year. Time to take notice. Last week I was up on Monday but okay by Wednesday so wasn't too worried. But today, yikes. Not a panic but need action. I haven't been logging so I'm starting that today. I want to do that for weight control plus I was just hearing about older adults need more protein that thought in the past so I want to watch that and I watch my fiber. Being on the FODMAP diet requires some thought there. Logging is important over good health. I also heard that to much salt could cause gut inflammation but I have to look at that on my own.

    I was out for the day on Thursday, including dinner at our favourite Chinese buffet restaurant. Small uptick in weight the next day (probably due more to time spent sitting in trains and sitting in the theatre than the food consumed). Back to preferred weight again.

    Successes/struggles of the week: Another bump back up for last week, which was expected from the event of the previous weekend and the days after, basically eating at a surplus for several days straight. Will be getting back on track now though. My workouts have improved a bit as I'm finally getting a bit more time to put in more effort into them. I got back where I was several months ago in deadlifts, and was able to progress past that point again.
