I am a college student. I eat constantly.
Every time I come back to the dorm, I feel obligated to eat something.
I always have something to snack on while studying or doing homework.
I always eat more than I'm hungry for.
Today I realized that I was in such the habit of eating that, although I was very full and had no food of my own left in the dorm, I still went to the C-store and bought a ton of snacks to munch on during my down time.
I've gained quite a bit of weight lately, and it's pretty embarrassing.
I'd like to know, for those who have had similar problems, how you broke the cycle of constantly eating?

Keep healthy lower calorie snacks with you at all times:
Air popped popcorn, Celery sticks, carrot sticks. This won't reduce mindless eating, but at least you won't do too much damage. I know that we all need a stress reliever sometimes - chewing definitely helps me.0 -
I eat constantly and eat when i am not hungry!! So i still find i need to find something i can snack on guilt free. Low fat jelly v.low calories, meringues 50 cals each for a sugar fix, raw veg and beetroot....i tend to eat a lot of these between meals as they are low cal snacks. If u can find something low cal u like u can still lose weight even if, like me, u hav to eat a lot!!0

I do that too. I usually try:
- don't buy snacks that I won't stop eating
- when I want reach for food, try drink some tea (water is too bland to stop me thinking about food)
- chew gum (quite successful doing that)
- grab fruits instead
- go with smaller portion just to get it over with
- go for a walk or get busy with something else
It's not easy, but try your best, my friend.0 -
Get a water bottle with a sippy-straw or one that you can put a straw into - sip instead of snack. Chew gum. Use Chap Stick.0
