Pre diabetes and high cholesterol

I’ve been diagnosed with pre diabetes and high cholesterol. The thing is, I rarely eat processed foods and I got my weight is 150 lbs at 5’2 1/2”. I’m not a heavy carbs or sugar eater. I’m not sure what else I can do as far as eating. I don’t exercise as much as I should, so I can improve on that. Any suggestions?

More exercise. Lose weight (at least 10 lbs as a start). Do you eat whole plant foods, like beans, nuts, and fiber-rich fruits and veggies?

    Alcohol?
You didnt mention it. For me, it has the biggest impact on my blood sugar levels.

More exercise, more fiber, less red meat. I am 5'9. When I dropped from 175 to 140 by switching to vegan and training for a 10k. My cholesterol went from 246 to 160.

Everyone is different, so what works for me may not work for you. I was able to improve my cholesterol by eating oatmeal for breakfast every day, without fail. Oatmeal is great fiber. I even found an oatmeal on the market that had added plant sterols, which also helps reduce cholesterol. I also replaced butter with extra virgin olive oil. Cholesterol usually improves with some exercise, even if it’s just walking, but you have to do it daily. If you can’t do half an hour, at least do 15 minutes. By doing these things, I brought my cholesterol down 48 points in three months. Again, every body is unique and responds differently.
