Iv been "dieting" for about 3 months now. And iv been getting chronic dry, flaky lips. They'r always very dry and peeling. Is this like a vitamin defficency?

How much water are you drinking? I find when I'm not drinking enough water, my lips get very dry.
Try some Aquaphor to help until you figure out what's causing it.0 -
could just be that time of year too... my doctor recommended "burt's bees" lip balm (i love the pomegranate oil variety) for dry lips. it's worked wonders for my family!0

Agree that water and balm will help, another thing you might try is adding more healthy fats to your diet--avocado, olives, nuts, seeds and fish oil will help your lips and skin. Dr Oz suggests using coconut oil on the lips.0

Bizarre question: What flavor of toothpaste are you using? Cinnamon toothpaste causes chapped lips. I've had the problem you've described and changed my toothpaste to mint. It helped the problem immensely. I also worked in a very dry climate controlled environment which didn't help my cause, and still had to use something for my lips to keep them hydrated. But the cinnamon toothpaste was a huge culprit.0

Since we can't see your diary.... are you eating a super low-fat diet? Exercising and licking your lips? Not taking a multi-vitamin? Any of those or a combination can cause your dry lips. I prefer Carmex or Blistex for keeping my lips from drying out when I exercise. I also drink at least a pint of water per hour.0

Could be coincidence, could be water.
I've noticed that my skin also gets drier if I go on a very low fat diet - if that's what you're doing, it might be worth re-introducing a little fat to your diet, perhaps in the form of cheese or oil.0 -
are you getting little sores at the corners of your mouth? a doctor told me years ago that's a sign of a vitamin deficiency. other than that, try adding good fats and maybe some vitamin E to your diet.0

Peeling Lips: Treatment
Since peeling lips are mainly caused due to dehydration, you must drink lots of water to prevent this problem. Loss of moisture is mainly responsible for dry and cracked lips, therefore, drinking fluids will solve this problem to a great extent. In case, you are suffering from a vitamin deficiency, you need to start taking foods rich in the vitamins A, B, C and E. You must increase your intake of fresh fruits, leafy vegetables, dairy products, whole grain cereals, fortified bread, egg yolks and red meat. You must avoid spicy food.
Since lips lack the natural oils that help in retaining moisture, you need to keep your lips moisturized. You could apply petroleum jelly, cocoa butter, vitamin E gel or aloe vera to moisturize your lips. Exposure to sun or cold winter winds are known to cause dry, peeling lips. Therefore, you must protect the skin during harsh weather. If you are suffering from peeling lips, you must completely avoid licking or biting your lips otherwise peeling lips won't heal. Frequent licking would certainly worsen the problem.
Smoking dries the skin and contributes greatly to the peeling lips problem, therefore people suffering from peeling lips should avoid smoking. Cheap cosmetic products use certain chemicals that can make your lips dry, therefore, you must use good quality cosmetic products only. You could also try some home remedies. Take a ripe papaya and mash it. Apply this on your dry lips and wash it off after 15 minutes. The exfoliating enzymes in papaya will certainly soften your cracked lips. Applying honey, clarified butter or olive oil will also work wonders.0
