Debbie – OK, who kidnapped your MIL and left that person?????

who will use the wetting drops first
the big thing is how will she be towards DH tomorrow evening when he is over there by himself.
She puts on a fake persona with me I think. It would be nice if she was really like this and appreciated when we go over there.
I will take what ever peace I can get.3 -

Possibly water retention from high sodium or certain foods that don't digest quickly. I don't let daily fluctuations bug me. I just continue with my well planned food and exercise.

Well I started my project. I don’t know if I like it or not.
This is a hope chest my Dad built for me when I was 16. It will be 40 years old this Christmas. I use it for my coffee table, but I noticed that it was starting to look pretty beat up and I was tired of the orange-ish look to the wood.
We’ll see when it dries I guess.

Tracey ~ WOW! That hope chest is beautifully made! You must have gotten your creativity from him.
Carol in GA2 -
Oops, the relay will be around $300.00, missed a “0”
It’s 4:30 and surprisingly, Vince is grilling the chicken. I honestly thought he’d want to wait until later tonight. Then again, it probably won’t get much cooler. At least he’s in the shade.
Like Lanette, a neighbor invited us to get blueberries from her bushes. I may go get a few and then see how they are. I do have quite a few in my freezer, tho. But it sure can’t hurt to have more. Frozen blueberries and homemade yogurt….my mouth is watering. As the frozen blueberries defrost they make a “syrup”
pip – lately, I’ve gotten quite a few male friend requests too. I just delete them, I don’t even have time or desire to write anything.
Debbie – those shoes you posted also remind me of my crocs
My girlfriend in Switzerland passed away this morning. The really really freaky thing is that today is the 60th anniversary of my mother’s death. Wish there was something I could do, but I honestly don’t know what.
Michele NC12 -
Michele - I'm so sorry for your friend's passing. Expecting the loss of someone doesn't mean we can prepare our hearts.
Tracey - I think the chest looks good in both pictures, but computer colors are always off. Varnish will definitely go yellow or orange over time, so freshening it up won't hurt at all. I miss refinishing furniture! You did a great job. So pleased your feet are doing so much better!
Heather - Bless Bea's heart, she's going to be on the stage someday, I'm thinking. So much fun to watch them grow up, thank you for letting us all be part of that.
Allie - Been thinking about you, hope you're feeling better!
Carol - Thinking about you. I'm sure the knee replacement will go very well.
Karen in BC - Welcome! Lots of good advice and support here. Six pounds in two days could well be water weight, or just the fluctuations that our bodies deal with every day. We've got one person going through her second hip replacement and one through her knee replacement this month alone, so you're definitely in good company! Try not to let the frustrations of day to day weight gains or losses bump you off your path.
Was able to work outside for nearly an hour and a half this morning, and got a lot of brush pulled over to the burn area for Corey. Since those were cleared, he was able to get a tremendous amount of the treefall cut up. Still lots more to do, but no deadlines.
I looked down the other day when I was barefoot and noticed that the inside of my ankle on my right leg was bending toward the floor, and the arch was nearly flat to the floor. I remembered the arch supports I used for quite some time years back, at Heather's advice. Two days later, I'm really pleased at how much they're helping.
The house smells like a barbecue joint, Corey's making pulled pork for dinner. Looking forward to a barbecue slider, and a few bites of mac & cheese. He's making the side dish just for me, as he isn't fond of it, but I think it's the only rational side dish with barbecue. He's making cole slaw for himself, but I'll pass. Never thought cabbage was truly edible... but then again, it is green, and I am a little biased about green stuff. 👀😲😁
Hope it's been a lovely, peaceful Sunday in your neck of the woods.
Love from scorchy, torchy Arkansas,
Lisa

England lost the final against Spain. John was very philosophical.
Now we only have the Olympics to suffer through. What a summer! We always have Wimbledon, which is bad enough, but we've had Queens, Euros, Wimbledon, and now the Olympics. All of these take up the normal free to air schedules and bump off my favourite programmes. I have now run out of recordings. This evening watched my last two recordings and then I downloaded another free channel onto Firefox, and was able to watch an episode I'd missed, but I had to endure the ads.
I did record something that was on at the same time as the final for John and I to watch tomorrow.
Food excellent, but I ate too much. Dairy stuff. I did avoid alcohol while he was gone, so I'm proud of that.
Seeing my hunky consultant surgeon tomorrow morning. Just a check on how the old op is coming along.
Will put my best face forward.

Michelle - I'm sure your mom was there to meet her when she passed.
Yes they say death comes in 3s so Dr Ruth,Richard Simmons, and Shannon Doherty.. so sad she was only 53
I don't think the Cephlex is working as im still in pain ,but taking it faithfully and drinking lots of water and cranberry juice ,don't really have ro much of an appetite.
Go see the dietician tomorrow morning

Lisa ... your "snake" encounter had me laughing!
Rebecca ... I take a can of v-8 into my mom's facility every day. She absolutely loves it!
Annie ... I usually visit my mom about 30 minutes after her lunch ... she never can remember what she just ate ...
Carol ... I will be praying for you as you prepare for surgery. Make certain your husband, or whomever is going with you on the day of surgery, hears all of the instructions and details too.
Tracey ... good luck with the interview. You will do amazing. I've been thinking about your recent education and the truth is that all you learned can be applied to any work situation ... most of us never grow up you know ...
Barbara ... hope you don't have to lose anymore trees ...

Babysitting my middle sons kids, miss Athena and Eli. Babysitter was just doing the right things and Eli got scratches on face, plus other questionable situation they got on video. So she's out. I will watching the for as long as need me. Lord give me strength.💖.
Son and Athena drove up on Friday, and stayed the night. It was wonderful hearing Athena's stomping around the house.💖. Then Saturday drove down to their home. Eli was very wary of me but has warmed up to me.

Recently I’ve been getting a lot of men friend requests. I sent each of them this message, have you?
Hello,
Recently I have been getting an awful lot of friend requests from men and I am curious as to why. No rude or inappropriate comments or questions (yet). A couple of them asking if I was married or if I was happy which is weird. Can you enlighten me?
Thx
They are bots. Just delete them.2 -
All caught up on this warm and sunny Sunday evening! I am on day 13 of this crappy summer cold. I have been working through it. I did have a long holiday weekend over the 4th (4-7th) and I rested the entire weekend. AND I have rested the majority of this weekend. DH and DYS have it, too. Anyway...it is what it is. I am still eating pretty well. I have days where I am not hungry at all, then days when I eat everything; so I guess it evens out. I haven't gained. In fact I have lost a pound or two. So...that's a plus. Must be the lack of wine. lol
Rori- your trips taken and planned sound like so much fun! Enjoy it all! Hmmm...I think I would probably take Sandra Bullock to play me. She can do goofy/stupid and scary/intelligent. I can be both.
Carol, Michelle, Heather, Barbara, Barbie and all others in pain: Hang in there! Sending best thoughts for relief and speedy recovery.
Allie- Love the pics of Miles! Such a cutie!
Tracey- I adore your ceramic snowman! And the chest is gorgeous!
Lisa- I love that quilt! Your gift recipients are so lucky to reap the benefits of your talent!
Heather- The kids look great! Bea the Brave! I never had that kind of courage as a kid!
Machka- Congrats on the move! Also: I am like you, where I have had more male friends, than female friends in my life. I currently don't have a friend that I talk to/vent to regularly. I think most of my venting would be about my life/my husband. My sister in laws would feel compelled to tell their husbands (by husband's brothers), who would then feel compelled to get involved. Nope. My sister and a couple of my friends would just advise me to leave my husband to find a better life. Nope.
You ladies are my sounding board, and I actually got the best advice; without her realizing she was giving it, from our Barbie; many, many years ago. She said (and I am paraphrasing) that "you can't change him; you can only change the way YOU think about things or react to things." Simple. But when applied to my life, it turned everything around for me.
Welcome to all of the new ladies! I am enjoying reading about your lives and how you work through/work around
things.
DH and I have been taking walks together a couple of times a week. It is nice. I am not sure if we will do more walks than that together, because we walk in different ways. He walks and wants to talk and I walk and want to look around and listen to trees, birds, and breathe in fresh air. We are also taking walks separately. lol
Anyway, I think that is all that is new for me. In the dog days of summer, here in Michigan. Not as hot as some of you; but high 80s and low 90s for early July is plenty hot enough for me. I am ready for fall/winter and snow! ttfn xoxoxo KJ (Kelly)

KJ – you and your hubby walking sounds like Vince and me walking. I enjoy walking because it’s my “me” time. I like to look at the sights and smell the roses….
You know, another thing...when my mother passed I remember we were in a very hot spell. As a matter of fact, that was when my father first experienced a/c in a car (in the limo that took us to the gravesite) and vowed that the next car he got would have a/c. And it’s been HOT here, in the upper 90’s earlier today. I have to take a shower after getting out of the pool just to cool off.
Spent time with the kitties while playing mahjongg. Won one hand.

Michele - I’m sorry for the loss of your friend.

Today’s gratitude: was able to walk up from the cistern to the chair before I had to stop to catch my breath. Aim is to make it up to the drive and eventually to the house without stopping.
Flea me2.
Lanette so relieved no permanent food damage. Brava for return to morning walk!
Heather Oh that Bea!
Pip likewise have received several friend requests from guys. Just deleted ‘em. ;}
@defiant63 Karen in BC, when I over indulge in sodium-rich food my weight skyrockets overnight. Have you been given any pre-hip op exercises to do? Hope your experience is as positive as Heather’s has been.
Tracey wonderful job brightening up that gorgeous hope chest.
Michele ((gentle hugs held extra extra long ))
Lisa yesterday at dog group one gal was giving her Cavalier King Charles spaniel a special treat-cabbage leaves! Thought of you and greenstuff :noway:
Rebecca, “be careful what you wish for” ..
Kelly, what you said about the ladies on this thread and Barbie’s sage counsel.

Rebecca - WOW, that's a big change in your life with no warning at all! But what a great way to build some new memories with Athena, ones she'll remember her whole life! When Corey and I moved to North Carolina to be there for our daughter and take care of our grands while our son-in-law was in Syria for six months, I know it gave Kels the absolute joy of knowing her kids were safe all the time, whether she was at work or in the field herself. There's always a smidgen of doubt with a stranger. How does your DH feel about all this?
KJ - Good to see you, sorry you're still fighting your cold. Two weeks is about three weeks too long to have a cold, as far as I'm concerned. I don't walk or exercise with Corey at all - His six-foot frame compared to mine, at 5'2", walks, runs, and even works out completely differently than I do. We tried the first couple years we were married, and one by one, they fell by the wayside. We're compatible in many other ways, but not that one. 🤷🏻♀️🤷🏻♂️I'm OK with that.
Barbara AHMOD - So glad to see you getting things sorted back to normal waterwise and otherwise.
Heather - Hope you enjoyed your visit with your yummy surgeon today. I'm sure they're very pleased with your healing from the first surgery.
Corey's finished getting himself sorted out for his Monday morning, and I've already got the clean dishes put away, got the first of a number of loads of laundry started, and so on. Next I need to get my meds sorted out for the week. Now that he's out the door, I'll be able to turn the music on the TV on and get some vacuuming, etc., done without him in the house. Want to get some significant work done on the quilt this morning.
Hope it's a good day and a good week for everyone. I have an entire 11 days stretching out in front of me with nothing medical scheduled. So far, anyway.
Love from the heartland,
Lisa in AR

Good morning beautiful ladies!
Michele I'm so sorry for the loss of your friend. Hope your kittens can ease the loss.
Tracey that chest is beautiful! And great that your feet are better.
Allie sorry you have pain. What does the kidney doctor say?
Beth I'm always thinking about you and your mom as I work through things with my Dad. We are not alone!
Rebecca good to see Eli and Athena!
When I had three little papillon dogs, I used to chop broccoli fine and throw it in the air, saying broccoli from heaven! They went crazy chasing down every little piece.
We still have a mystery odor in the house. Last night I told Dad I was going to throw away his old sneakers, but that wasn't it.
The cleaners come tomorrow which interferes with my grocery window. Maybe they will figure out the odor.
Meanwhile, have a great day! May you be happy, healthy, safe and free!

Pennsylvaniayes, Lanette. That's it exactly. This morning they are saying that secret service didn't sweep that building and that spectators saw the guy creeping along the roof a minute before he started shooting. I know they have their protocols, and I've had a friend in the presidential secret service before -- under Clinton, and a son of a college friend of mine serves with Biden, so I have mad respects, but holy cow. I hate to think what could have happened.
Sorry for the loss of your friend, Michelle.
Allie, I'm worried about you. When can you start dialysis? You might feel better.
Rebecca, sorry about the situation with the grands, but thankful you are there to stand in the gap and have extra wonderful time with them.
We went to the coast yesterday to escape the heat. Here's hubby at the bottom of Cape Kiwanda. We didn't climb up the dunes, not his thing, and there were sink holes opening up this past year, so I was nervous. But that didn't deter everyone. Surfers out in force, in full wetsuits, of course. It is Oregon. My so cal husband can't wrap his head around bundling up to go to the beach in July, but that's what I grew up with.

Barbara - Yes those are pictures of Jonah and Michaela 8 years ago, he was 4 and she celebrated her 6 months. I took them to NB with me for two weeks. Michaela never slept through the night once, thankfully I had a lot of friends and family that suffered along with me. 😂
The memories of that trip are all popping up on my FB Feed right now. I couldn’t afford to take them now.
Shadow and Tumble are doing very well at coming back.
Heather - I love reading about your exercises again. I hope you enjoy the concert.
I’m spoiled with no ads because I record as well. However, for the last few months, recorded or not I tend to let the ads run and I get up and do something. I think all of the little bits of movement is helping me.
Lisa - Rodger has always wanted a motorcycle, I am just as glad that he hasn’t gotten one.
I have a pair of those little things for your feet too. Maybe I’ll try those in my runners.
Machka - You’ve done so much and have kept on going. It’s good that you were able to stay home and unpack a bit for a day, and rest! Do you still take the bus to work? Is your commute longer or shorter?
Rita - you’ve learned what works best for your body for sure.
I hope you feel better soon. I’ve been exhausted a lot lately. I’m not sure why or what’s going on.
Frustrating
Michele - I bought my sandals like this at the end of May and I noticed that it wasn’t as painful immediately.
I’ve been doing all of the exercises, wearing the night splint that Allie suggested and my knock off Birkenstocks since Christmas. This started in October. It was so painful there were nights I just cried. It honestly didn’t start improving until I forced myself to sit and give it time to heal. I think the reason they can’t cut out anything out is because it’s ligament that is inflamed, it feels like a callous, but it’s actually the ligament. It would be major surgery.
Lanette - Recovery slippers is a good term. I wear them a lot in the house, it feels like I’m walking on a cloud so the cushioning must be helping my foot. I am wearing some with proper support too, it’s a balancing act for sure. I’m wanting to get out walking again but am scared of trying my runners. I need to bite that bullet and try.
We haven’t had smoke in the air yet this year thankfully. I know there are fires around though so if the wind changes direction we could get it.
I saw on the news that Labrador City which is in the Eastern part of Canada was evacuated yesterday. I feel so bad for people suffering through these situations.
Pip - I’m the same at least 5 or 6 a week it seems. I just keep declining the friend requests.
Debbie - I’ll have to see if I can find that brand in Canada.
Rebecca - how fortunate that you are able to do drop everything to go help them. Also, they finally visited at your home!
It will be rewarding and tiring.
Kelly - a lot of people seem to be having a lingering cold, I hope you feel better soon.
That Barbie is a smart woman, that piece of advice helped me too.
Rodger and I can’t walk together either unless we’re touring a new location or something.
I went for a walk today. First time in a really long time. It was slow and I didn’t go as long as I wanted but I went. I think I need new runners, I wasn’t comfortable.
I thought I posted this last night but apparently got distracted.

I have been using Barbie’s advice toward my DH as well. I found it in ALANON publications too. It was hard at first but now that I’m used to it, getting easier by the day. I believe now that no matter how hard you try, you can only change yourself, no one else. Gives me peace and acceptance.

I’m on day 11 of this summer cold thing. DH has it too. One day I feel fine, the next my glands are swollen and my ear hurts, my head hurts, stiff neck and feels like sinus junk and just want to sleep. Guess it’s going around.
Dinner yesterday was not the best but really good. DH took some Whomp biscuits and made a pizza out of them then topped with home made tomato sauce (no sugar) onions, peppers (from the garden) mushrooms, provolone, pepperoni (just a small amount). It was heaven! Haven’t had a pizza in years! Before and after pictures. Supper was 1 avocado toast snack were an orange and 1/2 an apple with a handful of mixed nuts. Breakfast yesterday and today was the last of the instant oatmeal with Almond butter, butter, and 1/2 a banana. Trying for 5 fruits/veggies a day not counting seasonings. I got it with this pizza for sure!

PS… The ‘green” stuff is what DH calls “Aleek”. Basically pesto made with parsley instead of basil. And forgot to mention there was leftover hamburger in the tomato sauce.
