Hello! Yep. I tried to make date syrup (a VERY healthy substitute for sugar), but ended up with date paste. It's not too bad! I did really well several years ago with incorporating whole foods into my diet and I want to do it again. I love to experiment with healthy recipes and hope to stick to it this year. I'm happy to share my MFP recipes!

Why would you add a syrup into your diet when the Whole30 diet wants to remove added sugars?
You probably ended up with a date paste because you didn't strain the dates, the residual liquid will be void of any paste or plant material for the most part. Basically you can't end up with anything but a liquid, so it's difficult to say what you did wrong but I suspect you either didn't add a liquid, didn't add enough liquid or didn't strain.0 -

If sugar is 63 on the Glycemic Index and dates are 62, I'm not sure how dates are a VERY healthy substitute.2 -
I absolutely love dates! They are so good and a “natural” sugar that are both satisfying for sweet cravings and a bit of fiber (small quantities).0
