How come I keep on..

eating rubbish!! Im going through the stage of trying to find out whether I am wheat/gluten/dairy intolerant, been to see specialist and im waiting for some samples to be tested. I did the elimination thing, introduced them all back and now getting belly aches again, so am starting today and taking them all out.

Thing is, I cant help but have bad stuff. I can eat a heathly breakfast and dinner, but after that I keep going to get stuff from heath food shops which are cakes, carob chocolate, and other stuff which is free from, but goodies. Im finding it hard to stop doing it, its as though I am basically binging on the stuff in the afternoon. How can I stop myself, its driving me mad!!

thanks if u can help.!

Cut back in moderation. If you try to do it all at once you run the risk of setting yourself up for failure. Keep your "bad" snacks in the house, but sparingly. If you want a piece of cake, have half a slice for lunch and the other half for dinner. Space it out. I don't know if you exercise, but that has helped me tremendously with my urge to eat outside of regular hours. Believe in me who believes in you! Good luck with your journey!

My main problem is when I am at work. That is why I go out and buy the stuff!! I do exercise, which is probably why I feel I dont feel too bad about eating this stuff, but it still doesnt really help my weight, or my suffering stomach!!

Maybe I should not take my money with me when I go out.

Maybe you should also schedule an afternoon snack. Many of us have only about 4 hours between breakfast and lunch, but 6 or 8 hours between lunch and dinner. We cling to the idea that we should only eat at meals without realizing that both our bodies and watches tell us that we need to eat sooner.

there comes a point in which you just have to say no to yourself. It's the same with any addiction, you can try all the technique in the world, have all the positive support in the world, have the best intentions, but if you don't recognize that there is some sacrifice that is going to be involved and accept the desire as just that, then you'll never have long term success. In other words, sometimes you just have to bite the bullet and not do it. There's no trick to it, you just have to go through a bit of suffering. In the end, those cravings will diminish, and you're ability to overcome them will strengthen, but the first step is the hardest.

THAT makes a LOT of sense!

This summer I had to do the exact same elimation diet. I ended up being Lactose intolerant. Something I found that helped me when I went back to eating "normally" was to add in only one thing a week. so I would add in gluten for a week on its own before I would add in fructose, and then I added in Lactose. this allowed me to see if i had any reactions and then able to identify what caused the reaction! Hope this helps!

Set yourself one goal a week, the weks fly by and before you know it your eating clean healthy food all the time. From a quote on my fridge " its the small mini-wins every day that make the biggest difference " Michelle Bridges.

    celebrate the mini wins!

You can do it and the rewards will come thick and fast.

    good Luck

Thanks alot you guys for all your advice. sometimes I do actually do myself a menu for the day, which does include snacks in the afternoon. But I just seem to crave the bad stuff, although I do have the heatlhy stuff ready and waiting for me. I did pretty well the first time I did the elimination diet, because I had to do it strictly for the specialist.

Right, I am going to try my hardest as from tomorrow. Because I have stuffed myself today I probably wont eat anything for the rest of it, my stomach has blown up massively and very uncomfortable. I knew this would happen but still do it!! Will I ever learn.

I know that I have to do this for myself, and I am going to try really really hard.

    Thanks xx

It’s like with any other habit out there, it will take time & dedication to overcome.
