anyone on the midnight shift

I'm on the midnight shift every couple of weeks. Anyone else swing shifts? When you would start counting calories for the day and end the day and start again?
What works and what doesn't?
I think my problem may lie in here. eating too many cals and not realise I'm doing so... so... can anyone help here?

I start counting when I wake up and then stop when my calories are all accounted for. I plan out my days meals when I wake up, and then I know where I am for snacks. I don't always put in my excercise and most say I should. I hope that helps.0
