I usually use the following mixed in with my meat, onions, tomatoes and beans:
1 Tbsp chili powder (any will work, I usually use a light one since I don't care for smoky flavors)
1 tsp powdered cumin
1/2 tsp salt (adjust to taste)
1 tsp paprika (I'm allergic to black pepper so I use paprika to give a little kick, but you could use 1/4 tsp black pepper instead)
1/4 tsp red pepper (add more if you want it spicier)
I also add 1 Tbsp of corn meal at the same time I add the spices to act as a slight thickener.
Good luck and hope your chili turns out well.

I love chili and have made it a dozen different ways, but I always just do my seasoning to taste. I use cumin, chili powder, garlic salt & Powder, and red pepper flakes or ceyann. I also like to use a can of fire rosted canned tomatos instead of just regular diced canned tomatos becuase it adds a smokey flavor. Basically have fun with it!0
