Does anyone have a suggestion for a healthy dish to take to a party? (No veggies or fruit.)

It is a dreary kind of day here and I was thinking chili….is it really that simple? Minus the cheese, sour cream, bread, and crackers.

Chili can be high calorie due to the beans. A cup can contain like 250 calories and I don't know many who'll just eat a cup. But if it's not for you, then for a potluck it's fine. Lol, just don't bring home a lot of food.

What have you got against veggies and fruit? I always take a big bowl of salad, then I can fill my plate without taking the pastry items and other very high calorie, low nutritional items that other people take.2

Maybe it's not a matter of having something against veggies or fruit but of what category they were assigned or what options were available when they signed up.1 -
Kebabs - you can leave out the veg.1

Sure, why not chili? Yeah, beans have 250-ish calories per cup, but a cup is a decent lot of beans, plus they're filling and nutrient dense. Also, not all chili recipes include beans.
The one thing I'd say about any soup (or other liquid-y food) is that the type/location of party matters. If it's a potluck not in someone's home, will there be bowls? I mean, you could bring bowls, but think about that. I assume you have some way to keep the chili hot. (We do a lot of potlucks at our club boathouse, so all of the dishware type stuff needs to be brought in.) Things in bowls can also be a bit of a pain if it's an event where not everyone has a place at a table to sit down.
It's cold, not hot, but a friend of mine makes Caprese skewers for potlucks. It's a skewer with cherry tomatoes, mozzarella pearls, fresh basil leaves, with a drizzle of balsamic glaze. Easy, reasonably healthy, everyone loves them.
My super easy go-to IS fruit, unfortunately: Dates split along the side, and stuffed with a spoonful of cream cheese or ricotta or a combination (with orange extract and orange liqueur for flavor), then topped with one or two toasted almonds. Also very popular anywhere I've taken them.

If I were asked to bring a meat dish, I would just do a big batch of oven baked wings. Season with salt and pepper and bake at 200C for 25-30 minutes. Dump them in a huge ziplock bag for transportation with some buffalo or BBQ sauce to coat. Ease of transportation would be my main concern. Let the host worry about finding chicken bones behind the couch.1 -
If I wanted to bring a hearty main dish that is protein based and suitable for vegetarians and vegans I would pick Spanish tortilla. You could soften a big bartch of onion and sliced potato (used the food processor) in a huge casserole dish or wok, and then make individual omelets in a small non stick fry pan.
I use this recipe, but use way less olive oil for frying the onion and potato.

My criterion for food to bring to parties are: easy to transport, can be served at room temperature, does not require individual serving vessels. ideally does not require cutlery or a base of starch such as bread or rice for serving. I avoid fiddly manual work such as rolling meatballs, or skewering stuff when cooking large batches.1 -
