Yes, I had sleeve surgery 12-20-2017 and I am approaching 7 years. I had a stroke 02-15-2017 and my weight was an obese 345 pounds. I was very sad and unhappy. After the surgery I lost 150 pounds. Today, I am about 205 pounds, just about my ideal weight given I am 6'3" tall. Menopause was NOT good for me. I will admit, however, that the sleeve was the BEST thing I ever did for myself and the tool is very useful in helping me manage my weight and desire for food. The surgery does not solve all the problems of being a food addict, but it sure helps control appetites and make me mindful and grateful every day! Good luck if you are considering it. I am a huge proponent of the procedure! Best and blessings, always! MickiMellby

I was hoping I would never see things about bariatric surgery here. I went through the whole process for gastric sleeve twice... ie ... dietitians, psychs, dr visits etc. Both times got into surgery and both times it was stopped. Apparently not due to weight but because of the way my organs are situated, the surgical tools (in two different hospitals) did not reach. So, ALOT of money, a lot of trauma on my body and mental stress... I would not recommend doing any of it IF you have not had psychological treatment for WHY you are overweight.

I can't speak for your personal situation, but if you can lose weight without surgery then you shouldn't even consider it. My mother had a gastric sleeve, did well then after a year put even more weight back on. She's finally doing weight loss the right way and is slowly coming back down, but it's taken years for me to convince her that quick fixes aren't the solution, you need to develop good long term habits.

I had a bypass May 30 and have lost 40 pounds as of Sept. 15! I want to lose another 40, I think. (from 210 to 130) I am 52, and have had Multiple Sclerosis for 25 years, so that my ability to exercise is greatly diminished. I ended up going to Mexico and paying for it myself - there is a 3 year wait in Alberta and then it costs about $12,000 but I only payed around $5800 all in -flights, hotel, medications, pre-surgery testing etc. It's not for everyone, but it was perfect for me! I wish I had done it sooner!
