I keep 10 calorie jello cups in the fridge and grab 2 of them for a snack. It isn't physically satisfying but it can help curve a reflex eating. If you are at a change in diet for a weeks and are still hungry at night try to space out your eating a bit more and you might need a little more calories. Once you stop eating late you should stop being as hungry during that time if you are eating enough.
Other possibly treats are strawberries, A plain old side salad with no dressing (veggies).
Find something low calorie and fit it into your meta to feed the need on your terms.

Sleep helps me. I find that i get to a certain point of the evening when I need to go to bed or my body will signal me to eat food. Food is fuel. I get tired and my body wants a snack or two or three. But if just go to bed or at least start that routine, It helps me avoid the snacking..

You arent wrong but I'm guessing you are a bored grazer by nature. I understand exactly what the lady is talking about and it is one of the main reasons I nearly hit 400. My lady now is always saying... if you are hungry you should eat, because it is 7am. I got to bed by 8am and work nights. I just dont do it now and when I do it is something like 140 cal protein drink or an apple, maybe a 60 calorie pudding cup instead of a 400 calories in chips or even worse options. Just say no can be hard for some people.

One other thing I highly recommend is to get all the crap out of your fridge. The reset of your family will be upset with that but one of the best way to control bad eating is to make it hard to eat badly.

above i meant "not" a bored grazer. I didn't specify what that was and that I fit in that category.

I don't cut it out. I just eat less in the day so I CAN snack at night.
I don't eat breakfast and start eating at 12pm. From there I just track calories to ensure I have like 500 calories I can use to snack at night. At the end of the day it's total calories that matter.

I would consider increasing protein intake, if you haven’t already; it should help you feel full for longer. If that doesn’t help, try healthy snacks when late-night snacking; plain, air-popped popcorn would do the trick as it’s good in fiber and low in calories.

I used to snack after dinner. I still get the cravings, even though I'm eating adequate calories.

My solution may not ring chimes for everyone, but I enjoy adult coloring books. Keeps my mind and hands busy. Also, after I'm through coloring and it's time for bed, I take a warm bath with a bath bomb or nicely scented both salts. To move it up a notch, I add my aromatherapy lamp or a scented candle. Takes the "wind out of the sails" of stress eating.

Bored grazer? What the heck is that? lol

If I have some calories to spare and I am hungry I eat. If I maxed out on my calories I drink water. :)

@xbowhunter a bored grazer is someone that will eat all day if they are around food. You see food you eat something. Even when you aren't hungry. When we diet we think about food the entire time. It takes a lot of effort to break the cycle of going to the fridge late at night for no reason and eating stuff. This is especially hard for a drinker. People you see that are extremely over weight you might wonder how they did it because they aren't eating any more than anyone else, some times less at a meal. Gaining weight a LB or 2 a week over years is way more common than the guy you see with a bucket of chicken at his desk. You dont see them at the fridge at 2 am. Or grabbing cookies every time you pass one.
When I was 20 my clubbing and doing sports kept up with most of my crap eating and drinking. Post 30 it has not. I've had to retool my habits to live long and prosper.

Well, for me it's a twofold approach:
    - on the one hand, I simply prefer to eat more later in the day, so I try to keep some calories in my budget for an evening snack. To limit amounts: I never eat from the original container (for example bag of chips, box of cookies,...) - I always determine the portion beforehand, put it in a bowl/on a plate and put the container back in the cupboard
    - on the other hand, I find sitting down (on the couch( encourages snacking. So I try to keep busy: walking laps around the living room while I'm on my phone or watching TV, keeping my hands busy,...
