    Sept 2nd: 47.8 kg (trend 48.0 kg)

    Success/struggles:

My weight has been all over the place this last week. My body reacts to a reduction in activity – especially driving or sitting in situations where I can’t easily get up and move about. So on Wednesday I drove up to my daughters – less than 2 hours in the car but I also sat more in the evening than I would usually. Then on Thursday I drove home in the afternoon – still less than 2 hours. On Saturday we went to the theatre – sitting in a train for about 90 minutes each way plus sitting in the theatre for 2 hours. On Wednesday morning I weighed in at 47.5 kg but on Sunday morning I was 48.6 kg. But by Monday morning it had dropped again to 47.8 kg.

    Successes of the week:
Running about 12-15km each week, feeling really great about the improvement in my fitness.

    Struggles of the week:
Scale is bouncing all over the place… less sleep, travelling, more carbs, salty food, increased exercise… Happy Scale says the trend is ‘0.2.lb gained over 90 days’ (100g) so not much to panic about but I can reduce the amount of exercise calories I eat back to see if that’s being overestimated (approx 76 days since taking up running, possible correlation there). Of course, it could also be 100g of new muscle…?

Well, scratch that - new ‘lowest ever’ weight today (141.6 lb) and Happy Scale now advises the trend is 1.6lb lost in 90 days… so, next step: replace the battery in the scales with a new one, see what happens then!

@AmunahSki , ha ha! That happens all the time to me when out of my normal routine.

I'm away on holiday for 3 weeks, not weighing myself and eating unfamiliar foods - I'm in Kos, lots of Greek specialities and very little green veg - so no idea what is happening weight - wise!
And when I get home there will be flying fluid retention to take into account.

Replaced the batteries: new low 141.0 lb.

Weird highs followed by weird lows. I can only put it down to one of those times when the body undertakes some kind of reorganisation? I find maintaining much more confusing than losing!

    Successes of the week:
Running (12-15km each week), loving how it is changing the shape of my legs.

Is this getting boring to read? When I was in a deficit I used to read the ‘maintenance’ posts and wonder how it would feel to ‘arrive’ at my goal weight… now, I realise it’s a continuous process/journey of monitoring trends and being consistent (even if bodies are not!!).

    Struggles of the week:
    Nada!

@AmunahSki , yup, welcome to maintenance! I've been at it for over 5 years and it can get very boring.
Constant ups and downs but (hopefully) no big gains. Holidays, special festivals, meeting up with friends, all have to be dealt with, while learning how your body responds to life events.

Successes/struggles of the week: Catching up on a few weeks here. I went on vacation for ~2 weeks, and didn't have access to a scale for a good portion of it, so some of my weights were guesses (based on the last weigh-in when I had a scale). With flights and indulgent meals out every day, my weight went up several pounds, though hopefully some of that is just water weight. I averaged at least 20k steps each day, more towards 25k over the vacation, and managed to hit over 30k steps on 2 days while exploring. Getting back into the groove of things now.

    Success/struggles:
After 3 weeks holiday I’m happy to be only a couple of kg up. We flew back to the UK on Thursday evening and stayed overnight in the airport hotel so I couldn’t weigh myself until Saturday morning. I weighed in at 50 kg and dropped a little over the next couple of days – fluid retention dropping off.
I was very active on holiday – cycling and swimming – which has presumably helped with the reasonably low weight gain. I did eat lots of lovely food and drink including ice cream.

    Start date/weight: 04/02/2024; 174.5#
    Goal Weight:160#
    Maintenance Weight: 155# +/- 3#

Weight started creeping up this month but is still well below my 160# goal weight & w/in my desired maintenance weight range.

Been averaging around 2k net cal intake recently & looks like I'm going to have reduce the intake to around 1700-1800 net, if I want the 30 day ave to drop back to below 155.

This is a chart of the 30 day moving average of my weight loss/maintenance effort:

Successes/struggles of the week: Very busy week last week, and weight was up again as it didn't fully drop down after getting back from vacation, and I worked an event all day on the weekend with only high sodium, high calorie foods available. Finally seeing a slow drop down again now.
