My Opinion of a Healthy Diet

Eating healthy should be a lifestyle, not a diet. It should be long term to see the best results..
Diets are made to fail. Atkins, South Beach, and all other "fad" diets-quick success, but as soon as they go back to carbs, fat, and sugar etc, the weight starts creeping back up!
Healthy is the way to go. Low fat, low sugar, low carb=all well rounded and perfect for weightloss!
**NOTE** This is my opinion, many might not agree. But I have had success with this, as I lost 35lbs!

So, true. It is truly a life long choice not a temporary thing. If it is temporary then the lbs do creep back on. IMHO :blushing:0

the only thing i'll take issue with is just how low is low fat to you? fat plays an important role in one's diet.
i happened to be a little more flexible with my diet but to each his own0 -
Congrats on your weight loss.
I keep a carb cycling high fat, high protein diet.0 -
Awesome. Some days my carbs are lower than others. Since I have reached my goal, I dont cycle or try to count those as much anymore~!0

Agreed!!!!! I have been practicing a healthy diet/lifestyle and exercising for all my adult life!! It has helped me maintain a healthy weight and feel good physically....and mentally. Healthy mind healthy body!0 -
wow, the picture~
Anyhow, low carb is a still debatable subject. I personally agree with low carb diet and so does my body.0 -
YAY! So glad you guys agree with me Yeah I believe our body totally NEEDS carbs and grains for energy, but I notice mine tend to be lower sometimes. That helped with my weightloss. Or it could be that I got most of my carbs by eating veggies and fruits instead of grains and rice, etc!0

I mostly agree but I am SUCH a happier person now that I have embraced fat.0 -
I can't seem to give up carb although i know eating low carb will help me loss weight. but im a carb junky, so low carb is definitely not my lifestyle.0
-
Low fat, low sugar, low carb... sounds pretty diet-y to me. MY OPINION.0
-
Oh yes fat is great for you, but too much, just like anything is bad. I get my fats from fish, olive and coconut oils, nuts, and nut butters0
-
I like fat.0

Its a way of LIFE. Not a diet. Healthy isnt a diet. If you disagree, do so in respect. Remember this an opinion, not a place to argue or be negative. Thanks.0 -

He's right. Fat is a hormone precursor. Killing fats effects hormones, hormones effect EVERYTHING.0 -

For me, what you think of as healthy would feel like a diet. That's all I was saying.0 -
I agree with the OP that that would be a healthy lifestyle.
I, of course, couldn't do that.
Therefore, i just eat healthIER. Ill never have that six pack or those bulging pecs. That's ok. FOR ME, I'd rather eat more of what i like, and take the extra 5-10% body fat, leaving me at...
..well, normal0 -
Fats increase libido too.

Meeee tooo! My concentration has been better, my sleep is deeper, my energy levels more stable, my skin looks awesome and I am never hungry. I eat about 50-60% of my calories from fat, primarily from grass-fed/pastured animal sources, coconut oil and olive oil.0 -
I agree 100% about the healthy lifestyle thing, but I don't agree with low fat or low carb.
I believe that a healthy lifestyle includes drinking plenty of water, moving your body, and consuming well balanced meals and snacks consisting of, among other things:
Whole grains
Fresh fruits and veggies
Lean proteins
Healthy fats (like avocadoes, fish, nuts, etc)
Most people's bodies function best when they are fueled by a variety of foods as all of the different food groups provide different nutrients that you can't get from other sources.
I've shed over 100 pounds and cut my body fat % by well over half, so I'm going to say this works for me.0 -
Guess yall missed the part where I said I ate healthy fats. Oh well. Once again.0

Me too! I have never slept better.0 -
To the original point of the post, my opinion of a healthy diet is one that is nutrient dense and satisfying above all else. For me (and from the research I have done) that just happens to be fairly high-fat, moderate-protein, low-carb.0

^^^ I agree with this. My body is much happier with consuming mostly healthier fats, complex carbs like whole grains, veggies, and fruit along with proteins. Everything in moderation works best for me.0 -
