Has anyone else noticed that myfitnesspal is not picking up the potassium in certain foods?

I've been tracking my food intake for a while now and noticed that my potassium consumption seems to be well below the recommended daily dose of 4,700 milligrams a day. However when I looked at some of the food I have tracked which I expect to contain potassium such as potatoes, fish and kale it is showing as nil. Is anyone else experiencing this and does anyone know if there is a fix?

The foods in the MFP diary library are created by other users, often they don't fill out all of the details. They must have left the potassium section blank. I've had the same problem trying to track sodium.

If it's a problem, then the best thing you can do is go to 'my foods' and create your own custom versions of the potatoes, fish and kale and use those instead, this way you'll be able to ensure all of the nutrients are present.

Potassium (along with other micronutrients) is not required on food labels, so people entering those foods into MFP don't have the information to enter at the time of creating the database item.

MFP is very good for tracking macronutrients, if you vet your entries and make sure they're correct, but not very good at all for tracking micronutrients unless you're creating and confirming all your own entries with that information entered.
