Go To Emergency Workout

With the 2 recent hurricanes effecting my hometown, the gym I go to closed for multiple days. In addition, there was no electricity at the house. My question is, "What are your go to emergency scenario workouts?"

I was able to do my pullups, pushups, crunches, and other basic body weight exercises, but felt like I was not getting as good of a pump as I normally would when I have full gym access.

If my town had been hit by two hurricanes I wouldn't be thinking about workouts!

Hope your power is back up and that the people you care about are safe. Maybe you could help out? There's plenty of heavy lifting to be done.

I got a set of Bodylastics bands for traveling, and they could serve well in situations like your gym being closed, and to give you more options for extra workouts at home too, or rehab if needed.

Along those lines, a mix of isometrics, resistance using household items (jugs of water?) Combo strength with circuit or hiit intervals.

If power is out, hard to explore other options/routines, so may be something to explore before next outage.

Hello from the Piedmont. My heart goes out to those caught in that devastating storm. We had a lot of rain here, minor flooding, and an F1 tornado that did not last very long.

I do not use a gym. My approach to fitness is to keep moving. I burn calories through physically intensive projects. My house is one hundred years old and needs lots of work. I burn firewood to heat a part of my house. Just getting prepped for winter burns a lot of calories. I do all of my automotive mechanics. I have a pool that needs tending all Summer. I've taken on all household chores since I retired, but my wife has not. If all else fails, I walk for a mile or two. None of this is anything I can precisely measure, so I stick close to my daily caloric goals rather than increase my intake based on burned calories. Since the end of May, I have lost fifty pounds and regained a lot of energy.

If I were where you are, I would find plenty to do and help others with the cleanup. I am very impressed with the resiliency and generosity of those in the mountains—best of luck and best wishes to you and those around you.
