Monk Fast

Hi, everyone. Fairly new to myfitnesspal. Great resource!

I've been trying to do a once-per-week 36-hour fast (also known as a Monk Fast) to help me reach my weight loss goal. I've done two so far over the last several weeks. Not super hard, but definitely not easy. I try to start each fast after dinner on Mondays and try to fast until breakfast on Wednesdays.

If anyone is interested in trying out this type of intermittent fasting, let me know. We can share encouragement, strategies, etc.

Please note: Based on everything I've read about the Monk Fast, it is supposedly at the "challenging level" of intermittent fasting. So please read up on it to make sure it is a good fit for you.

    Genuine question - where's the line between a 'fast' and 'disordered eating'. Does putting a name on it make a difference? Because if one of my friends said "I'm going to lose weight by not eating for a day and a half once a week", I'd be concerned.

    I fast for 36 hours most weeks. I have to watch my other days because of lately I've been eating too much.

    Good morning, Pashin. I sometimes have the same issue. But I always feel great when I break the fast after letting my system rest for a bit! Fasting is not for everyone, but I've had good success with it. Hope it's the same for you!

    I'm not sure that's Intermittent Fasting, but its definitely fasting.

    Monday-Wednsday works for me. I'm in Australia so my timing's may be a bit different, but I'll try to log here, start and finish times.
