Take it as learning experience and move forward. Also, start by keeping a food diary, it's a valuable tool to help keep you on track.

Welcome back. This is pretty much how it works. People go on diets instead of fixing what lead to the weight to start with. If you want to lose weight and keep it off you have to make a change.

Read below if you want but the bottom line is when you lose the weight you need to limit yourself to maint calories on after or you will slowly(or even quickly) gain weight. There are a lot of statagees you can adopt to make that happen you have to decide what works for you.

Below is my meta and how it works.

It is all about the meta. Weight x 10 plus a little is normally your maint calories. That is what you need to stay at your current weight. Take me my healthy weight is about 260 lbs. That means i can eat about 2600 calories a day on average and never gain a lb. I started at 400 lbs (give or take) I ate 1800 a day 4000-1800 = 2200.
3500 calories of deficit is a lb lost. Surplus is a lb gained. so .6 lbs a day give or take. Now i'm at 329. 3290 - 2000 (i have eeked up a bit) = 1290 or about .3 a day.
Add in extra exercise to burn more calories a day.
