GM GROUP, Iām 46, 215 lbs. For the last 3 years Iāve been struggling with losing weight. My weight has been up and down since my late twenties. At one point, I was up to 237 after going through a rough patch in life. I managed to get back down to my comfortable weight of 160.
Over the years Iāve been between 160 - 212. In 2020 I managed to get down to 165. Now I find myself back up to 215. š« I donāt know if itās age(47) but Iām finding it hard to be consistent.
My Fiance is struggling with the same issue. However she is having weight loss surgery in January. This has triggered me to get back on my weight loss journey. As, I donāt want to be the overweight one in my relationshipš¤
My goal for November is to lose 15 pounds. So far, Iāve been making better food choices, with a couple cheat days here and there (No one is perfect š¤·š½āāļø) but overall Iāve had some success, 9 pounds down from 224 to 215 since October 10th.
This month Iām gonna turn it up and try to incorporate more exercise. Hopefully I can stick to it. My goal is to lose 30 pounds by my birthday January 11. Wish me luck group! ā¤ļø

Well, you have an edge since I assume youāre a guy. You can put on more muscle faster and that gets you an increased metabolism. What is your game plan for this goal?0

This is only sort of true. Muscle growth ability has more to do with genetics than gender and to be quite honest, it's extremely difficult for MOST people to put on a significant amount of muscle unless they have their training and nutrition dialed, and above all else, their consistency. Some people, men or women, are just blessed with good genes that allow them to get jacked way easier and faster than others.
Also, while your body does burn slightly more calories when it has more muscle mass, the amount is negligible (think 50-100 calories a day) and it's best to not worry about those insignificant details when it comes to fat loss. Again, the biggest and most beneficial factors are getting your nutrition dialed (easier said than done), training hard, moving enough every day, and staying consistent (also way easier said than done).0
