Quick pop by……want to thank you for your words of encouragement @NonnieDoiron and @MissMay. I needed it. It was good for me to just state the truth and now move forward.
AF tonight and had no desire . Also stayed within my caloric range. Took a nice walk with DH and beloved dog after the rain stopped. Will get to the gym again tomorrow at 9:00 a.m. It was sort of a quiet day to reflect and get back on track.
Way to go @Womona!
We can do this LA thang!5 -

No desire to drink last night. I was exhausted, and my daughter decided to not follow the rules and stay up past my bedtime. Lol
Doctor appointment today. Too many things to address. Not sure if he’ll listen, but I’ll try.🤷🏻♀️5 -
2 months, 11 days AF. Life is way better today because I went out for a long over-due run yesterday and that along with avoiding the diet soda helped me see the world thru rose colored glasses. I know what is going on, I am weaning off the sugar and diet drinks with caffeine that replaced my wine, so now experiencing the effects of that. I'm off to body combat class.10

@xbowhunter I have a funny story too. It was many years ago. But some of my good friends went out for lunch at a restaurant. Among the group were three sisters and their younger brother Mike. Mike was only 17 or 18 at the time. When the server came around and asked if anyone would like to start with drinks. I wasn't there. But I guess some had ordered cocktails. When the server got around to Mike, he said, "I'll have an iced tea". Guess what they brought him? A long island ice tea! Crazy!4

Drink less ?? I can drink to that everyday.

Well, I jumped back in here at the beginning of November with great intentions. I am 11 days in and 1 day AF.
Lots of life changes and sometimes my desire is just to escape or not feel, but I've got to do better.
One day at a time. I just had my 64th birthday and feeling a little melancholy...and this too shall pass. Loved reading about all the Thanksgiving traditions. Brought back some nice memories.

A = 10
Lots of excellent take-aways-from this group. Now to put them into practice!
@surfergirl1982 ~ glad to see you hear. Sorry you had a bad experience on social media. Our space here is a very safe space ~ no judgment. We are here to support each other.
@Missmay ~ good for you and your success with the sugar reduction. Great decisions all around and awesome streak!!
@Breathe57103 ~ You are doing very well! Congrats to you. congrats on the birdies too!!
@Womona ~ Wow, you had quite the conference. Been there, done that! It always seems like a good idea at the time.
@michieb125 ~ Great focus. Kudos to getting back on the bus. I feel your struggle. Sometimes its easier to just say None vs limiting....at least for now. Sometimes we just need reflection days.
@NonnieDoiron ~ Good for you and hubby! That intimate time is so precious and does well for self-esteem. I appreciate your thoughts on sanitation; very good points. Good luck at the dr appointment.
@globalhiker ~ Congrats on your success. I love seeing this for you! Good information on the milestones. Never really thought about them but I can see how one would become over confident depending on progress made. It's very difficult to not drink around drinking people. Continue to put YOU first! I also like the idea of creating your day and something that I have been thinking about. Now that I'm semi-retired, the day can get away from me so quickly and I feel as though I've accomplishing nothing worthwhile. Thanks for the reminder.7 -
@itladyee - I'm fairly new here. So I'm not real familiar with your story. I realize with social media that it's probably best to be pretty private about things. But I do believe it's nice to know what part of the country or world where we are each from. I looked at your profile and I see we're both in the northern section of the US. I grew up in So California. So, I've been feeling a bit homesick lately.
I can't say that your November stats are great. But you've got me beat 🤔 I'll get back on track soon. I'm thinking the weather changing may be affecting me. I can remember when I loved the snow. I used to ski and if it were snowing, I would bundle up and go walking around (and I enjoyed it). I'm 67 now ,and well, I'm not so thrilled anymore.
Anyways, nice meeting you. Keep trying and I will too! 🙂5 -

Dr sort of listened today. I guess we’ll see if he puts me back on my iron. He’s also putting me on prednisone because I’m having issues with 🎶 my hip, my hip, my old-*kitten* lady hip!🎶 (been singing that all day now)7 -

@itladyee so great to see you back here! Happy belated 64th. I totally understand the melancholy. Time seems to go by so quickly, and unless we are mindful of how we’re spending our time, we can lose entire weeks and feel like our precious time on this earth is slipping away. Being intentional about each day, your activities, where you devote your energy, etc. really helps to slow down the passage of time, at least for me.5

Two glasses of wine with dinner last night. I would not have ordered the second glass of wine had the first one not have gone down so easily. Today is a new day.
At least I got a lot done on my day off !5 -
Wonderful job everyone.

A - zero!
Say what you mean.

2 months + 12 days AF done. Start the day with Intention. YES!! Today I will not jump right into work but exercise in front of the TV for half an hour starting now.
@Womona - Curious what you thought of the NA Rose you ordered? Giesen NA Premium Red wine at Total Wine I found pretty good if you are into reds. It has an aroma, good flavor, body and color, acidity is right and it's not sweet. I am considering buying that one again.3 -
I am mentally back on track this week! Yesterday, I ran around all afternoon taking care of some financial business that was necessary. The reflection time alone also did me good.
Live with intention, yes! Choices that support our self care and bring true happiness.
Grateful for this new day!

I was reminded by another MFP member today that this is not a race!
Like most things in life (relationships, weight loss, LA choices, personal moods, etc.) we WILL have great days, sprinkled in with some okay days and some plain old crummy days. Life is not for the faint of heart. 💜 But, we can keep going and aren’t going to give up on ourselves!5 -

Welcome to the group! I used to live in Northern California (14 years) and I've been back to the midwest (IL) for 27 years (Wow, didn't realize it had been that long!
I used to have all of my details under a spoiler but got tired of copying and pasting!!
Wine (red) is my kryptonite. One glass leads to 3 or 4 so I'm very happy when I consume 2 or less.
I don't like beer and I will have an occasional mixed drink.
Life has been very stressful the past few years so it's been easy to come home, uncork a bottle and unwind. Yes, the issues don't go away but they seem to be easier to deal with. And I enjoy a nice glass of red wine
My goal is to drink less, maybe confine to the weekend. I have been there but that wine devil catches up with me.
I still have my slip ups but since joining this group, I have become very mindful and have reduced my drinking a LOT, just don't look at November!

I am off the rail, i really thought i could do it but the stress level is so high i just seem to fail. My husband is ill again with his cancer treatment not working and my son who drinks far to much and is ADHD so full on and also my Grandson who is aslo ADHD are too much to cope with at the moment so i seem to just give into the drink.
Novermber
2 days AF
11 days drinking.
I must try harder to cope.8 -
Hi @annliz23 I feel you! I’m so sorry to hear about all these VERY stressful things going on, and sending you a big hug. I hope you don’t mind me sharing a suggestion. I wonder if you might ask yourself, “what other things can I incorporate besides a drink as a stress buster during this time.” It might be phone a friend, take a walk, join an ADHD support group, make some tea, take a drive, listen to calming music etc. whatever helps you feel more supported. I hope you will keep us posted on how things go with your husband’s treatment plan.5

Two more days to add to my AF count this month. I am feeling a ton of anxiety that I had been drinking to mask. I am really looking forward to seeing my grandbabies tomorrow. I will be able to push the anxiety away for 4 days.

@itladyee Thanks for replying back. Are you having a lot of rain there? As rumor has it...yes it does rain in Oregon. I reseeded my lawn a couple of weeks ago. And, it started raining about 36 hours later. And, it hasn't stopped since. Fortunately, the grass is growing.
I seem to be the only one in this group that doesn't drink wine. I drink Canadian whiskey.
I'm not doing great on the AF thing. I did well in April and August of this year. But I'll be back on track again soon. The reason I say this, is that I'm ready! I just hope I don't have to wait until a month that begins with an "A"!6 -
Nov:
AF=5
A=8
I did it! 4 day vacation totally AF. I didn't even have a single craving for it! which kind of surprised me. And I came to the realization that a lot of my drinking habit is just that, habit. It's become an ingrained part of my daily routine, and when that routine was absent, so was the desire/need/whatever-it-is to drink.
Now back home two days, and I've been wining it up both days. So now's the time to change my home routine. My cravings usually start early afternoon, so I think that's the time I have to focus on first for a change.5 -
Hit the big 60 yesterday! Celebrated with an ice-cold glass of water... lol
60 - AF
A - zero!10 -
That was the good news for me this week. Bad, actually horrible news is that my dear SIL passed away last night. She was 78, died from smoking. Of course that's not what the doctor's will list as the cause of death, but that is what killed her.
Anyway, I'm feeling very down today, but won't be drinking. I have to pick my DH up from the airport tonight, and I never drink when I have to drive.9 -

Thanks for the reminder! I totally forgot to actually order that NA wine last month-it was in my cart but I got distracted and never actually ordered it! Will do so today. Thanks for the recommendation on the Giesen NA red. I will look for it.3 -
