Wondering about logging...

I have started work stacking shelves in a supermarket in the last week. I've only done 20hours this week, but i have 30 hours next week and hoping to get up to full time within a month or so.
I have to get a bus into town then walk 1.1 miles to work every time and back, so 2.2 miles each day i work. Then on top of that I spend my entire shift lifting, carrying etc. This is not one of those supermarket jobs where you can take your time, I have to be constantly running on high power haha.
I've been logging the 2.2 mile walk for now, and logged my first day under 'moving house-carrying boxes' I think.
I know I'll need to change my settings after a while, but for now every day i work feels like a proper workout, so for this first week or two what should I put it as?
Once I get used to the job a bit more, i'll start re-introducing my workout dvds and stuff, but for the moment when I come back from work everything aches and I'm shattered haha.
any ideas??

I'm on my feet and moving all day as well but I basically set my activity level at "active" and only log actually exercise. In your case, I'd log the time for the walk to and from the bus but let your activity level take care of your time at work.0

If your going to be logging your new work as exercise, make sure your activity level is set on sedentary. As it really is part of your daily life, I wouldn't log it as exercise. (the time you are at work)....now the walking to the bus and back, I would log that.0

personally, i would set it at lightly active. we all tend to over estimate how much we burn, and underestimate how much we burn.0

I agree, and I think I need to up my activity level as I'm more acttive every day since starting a new job.0

I would set your activity level to "active" and then log any exercise you do in addition to work and your daily walk.
I only log exercise if I am doing it for the specific purpose of exercising. For example, I don't log cleaning or cooking because I'm not doing it for the exercise.0 -
Heart rate monitor is the best option in this case so that you accurately measure your calorie burn. Maybe on your first paycheck you can invest in yourself! I think you will be surprised on the amount of calories you burn during your stocking job.0

Keep in mind that no matter how you try to log it, your body is keeping its own log and will give you the results on the scale. So whether you decide to log everything or nothing won't really matter except in how it may effect your mind-set. If you think you're the type who needs the encouragement of seeing that you kicked butt on exercise, then log it all. If you think you'd use it as an excuse to eat a pint of ice cream when you get home, then don't.0

I'm in a similar situation. Because you don't work full-time, you don't want to change your activity level to account for it... I'd do what you've been doing, but try to underestimate how many calories you're burning. Today I worked for 7 hours, I was on my feet running back and forth for that entire time, I logged it as 2 hours at a slow pace.
But if you buy a pedometer, you can divide the steps by 2500 to get calories burned through walking, so maybe you could try that.0 -

Thanks everyone.
will change my level to active in a week or so when i feel bit more up to it. I onyl logged the first day as exercise because it wasn't a workout how I usually think of workouts... lol
Probably wont log it as exercise or anything, just make sure I eat up my calories, I'm always under and haven't lost any pounds lately so thinking about trying to make sure I eat them up haha0
