Fitbit Steps Not Resetting to Zero After Midnight - Began 11/8/24

Is anyone else experiencing this. It just randomly started without me changing mobile devices, OS or Android apps (Fitbit or MFP)?

Starting Nov. 8, 2024 MFP is replicating (carrying over) the end of day Steps count I had on my Fitbit Inspire 3 & Fitbit (Android) app to 1st thing in the morning. It then retains that step count throughout the new day. MFP is not resetting my steps to zero (0) as it has for the past close to 14 years. This is the 1st time it's ever done that. My apps Fitbit & MFP have been linked since 2013. I haven't unlinked them or changed them in any way. I verified on both apps & online that that partner linkage is still in force.

My correct step counts are being sync'd between my Inspire 3 device and the Android Fitbit app on my mobile devices (Samsung phone & Samsung tablet - both with the most current, supported OS release). And, the Fitbit app is still resetting my steps to zero for each new day (as it should). It is only the MFP app that now shows my highest Fitbit step count from the prior day, without resetting, after midnight and throughout a subsequent day.

Came here to figure this out--mine is doing it too. I just reconnected to MFP after a few years away, though I've been using Fitbit the whole time. I have a Charge 4.

I have this issue as well. I have reported this to MFP and they are aware of the issue. They are working on this however they don't have a time scale for the fix. I got the impression that the integration is down for the foreseeable future now.
  • Same issue here. It is a bit of a relief to know that it isn't just me. Unlinking the two apps and reconnecting helps sometimes. It is very frustrating.

I submitted a Support ticket before posting here! All I hear back is, "These things take time.." No explanation of the issue or ETA to a fix. It hasn't ever done this in the over a decade I've used MFP; until Nov 8, 2024!

Is anyone besides Google (Fitbit) device users that are linked to MFP experiencing this? Or, only Fitbit device users?

I ask because the developers at Google who now are responsible for Fitbit have totally (uh, I'm trying to think of a strong enough word that is still P.G. for a forum) "destroyed" the Fitbit app (certainly, at minimum, the Android one). Google has broken what the real Fitbit team had built into a close to flawless app experience.

My Inspire 3 step counts do sync accurately to a 3rd party Fitbit oriented Dashboard (that I use on my desktop PC to compensate for the great legacy Fitbit Web Dashboard that Google nuked). So, that suggests the issue is either on the MFP end or the link between Google & MFP; if someone changed the Fitbit code and broke the system to system handshake.

This exact problem has just happened to me too. I have a Charge 6 that syncs fine to the Fitbit app but gave me the exact same steps for two days in MFP, then gave me yesterday's steps today (over 10k) and also says 0 steps for exercise.

Have reinstalled the apps but nothing has worked. And not likely to by all accounts!

I submitted a ticket yesterday and got the following reply. then reached out to Fitbit and they say they know nothing about it and I should contact MFP.

I don't doubt or debate that Google is doing screwy things with the Fitbit app. Because they have mucked it up.

But, this issue of steps not resetting properly in MFP still seems as though it has an MFP responsibility causing the issue too. Because...

On my MFP Dashboard & in my topline MFP Diary summary it continues to show the end of previous day steps from my Fitbit (Inspire 3); the bug that arose weeks ago on Nov 8, 2024.

Yet, if I tap on the Steps panel on the MFP Dashboard, adjust the historical data option to 1 month, then tap on the word "Steps" at top center of that page (it shows a graph and reverse chronological order step data), what comes up is a list of options with little circles in front of them. At bottom of that list (in my display) is one that reads "Fitbit Steps". When I click on that option, I see the correct tracking, in the historical data list, to where my Fitbit steps have been since Nov. 8 & where they are currently this a.m. The number displayed in the MFP list generated by tapping that doesn't show inaccurate Fitbit Steps data!

The trouble is, that MFP setting that I want, "Fitbit Steps," used for my data isn't "sticky". It doesn't hold. As soon as I leave that screen, MFP returns to the generic "Steps" data - which is inaccurate and retains the last Fitbit step count from the prior day.

The fact that somewhere inside the MFP app there is accurately sync'd (& labeled) Fitbit Steps data seems like some software coding linkage (and/or ability to hold a setting like Fitbit Steps) has become broken within MFP's end of the partner link.
