Word nerds, need your help.
I've been trying to come up with a word that embodies the essence of American masculinity. I'm trying to title a theme from the days of handlebar mustaches and bare-fisted boxing. Mid-late 1800's when "men were real men" (It's a theme, so please spare me any opinions on gender roles and other BS I'm not asking for).
It can be a first name, like Butch.
It can be a full name, like D*ck Longfellow.
It can be an adjective, like Burly.
I graduated with an English degree and I'm totally stumped right now. I'm helping my friend who is an event planner plan a party and we need a name for this so we can maybe monogram things, set up the invites, etc.
See what you can come up with. Thank youuuuuuuu!!

            "Strapping" is good.
I like "robust," "dauntless," and "resolute."
Of course, it occurs to me that those are all ship names. Huh ... Anyway ...
I think that "robust" might go best with the mustache, but I'm at a complete loss to exaplain why that feels so.
I'm not sure if any of those is exactly what you want. None is in the same category as the "Longfellow" example. Then again, that one seems much more like it's trying to capture the pseudo-masculine spirit of the high school locker room than adult manliness.
(No lecture on roles, just feedback.)0

            Cowboy ...
I'm not talking rinestoned Showbiz kinda Cowboy, either ... I'm talking 'on the range' rodeo riding, bucko bronkin, working from early light to dark, fence mend'n, dirty hands, cowpoo on his boots kinda Cowboy. Kick the crap outta their body like nobodies business everyday all day, go to work even if they are sick kinda Cowboy. As tough as nails, yet gentle enough to tend to the needs of lost little baby calves, and puppies kinda Cowboy. Now, That's a real Cowboy!
 Yiii Hawwww!0
